About Me
CURRENT MISSION
It's a cliche, but to live life to its fullest; enjoy the companionship of my husband and family; create the best learning environment for my students; experinece the world in small, intimate doses
ABOUT ME
Kind, considerate, curious, dependable, compassionate.
My husband and I are 64. He is retired but also teaches a couple of classes online. His major passion is being the human partner of our two therapy dogs. I'm still teaching full time, department head of our English department. I love to read and watch movies and good TV (especially British). We also provide after-school care for our 6-year-old granddaughter.
PHILOSOPHY
That's hard. I guess I would have to go back to the cliche at the beginning. Live life to the fullest, enjoy every moment, but savor everything-food, travel, family--slowly and thoughtfully.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love my family and my work. In addition, I'm involved in several community efforts--Centro Latino (an agency that helps Hispanic immigrants transition to life in our community), our local community theater (advisor, not actor!), and our local business development board
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None. But lots of home-exchanges and some house/pet sitting

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think the most amazing thing I've ever done was to ride along with my daughter, then a US Navy officer, on her ship from Pearl Harbor to San Diego. For 8 days, I slept in her bunk (she slept in a sleeping bag on the floor), shadowed her as she worked, and most impressively, watched her as, officer of the day, she guided the ship out of the channel from Pearl Harbor to the Pacific. Even more moving, it was December 7, 2002, and as the ship glided past the USS Arizona memorial, all the ship's company lined the rails (in dress whites) and held a salute until we were fully past, in memory of those who died that day in 1941.
Teach, Learn, Share
Love to meet people in their own home areas, get to know their culture through everyday activities--shopping for food, walking, driving through the area.
