Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My favorite couchsurfing experience was an experience when I was a host. I was living in a tiny (96 square feet) apartment in Portland, Oregon, and my friend Bird called and said she'd given my contact info to a friend of hers who was looking for a place to crash. The friend called me up and told me he and his two friends were looking for a floor/couch for one night. I was skeptical about having so many people in my tiny apartment, but I said yes and braced myself. The three guys ended up being super polite and funny and smart, and we had a really pleasant evening followed by breakfast the next morning. After this happened I felt so glad that I had opened up my home to them, because had I questioned doing so I never would have made those connections! I actually saw one of them when I went down to Berkeley last summer, and he found me a place to stay there. These experiences are the reason why I opened a couchsurfing account, and why I look forward to the day I'm in a living situation where I can host!
