About Me
Hello! It’s been a while since I’ve used couch surfing and I’m excited to be back on here :) I’ve lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of my life, except for living in the Netherlands for a few years when I was a baby (I’m not Dutch, but my parents were teaching here). I’m in Amsterdam on a family trip for my dads 70th(!!!) birthday, currently staying at a home exchange in Amsterdam Noord. The last three days of my trip I’ll be on my own, and would love to revisit couch surfing rather than end up in a hostel. Those last few days I’m happy to have a lot of alone time, hanging around parks and wandering streets.... get some painting done etc... but would also love to have a host who wants to get a drink/coffee with me, show me some of their favorite spots, etc. I’ve been to Amsterdam many times before, although not in five or six years. I’m not looking to party, although I’d love to go to some live music (preference for punk, post-rock, twee, metal). Mostly interested in getting new perspectives on the city and enjoying how gorgeous it is here :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've had four trips where I used Couchsurfing - one In 2012 through Europe, one in 2014 through Europe, one in 2015 in the USA, and another in 2015 in Peru. Some of those trips I’ve used those accounts but for others I’ve used friends who I was traveling with, which is why I don’t have so many reviews or friends on here :( I've hosted once, and the guy we hosted ended up moving into our co-op he loved it so much!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Ive had almost entirely very very positive experiences on Couchsurfing. I’m continuously impressed by how kind and welcoming people all over the world are. A lot of my fondest traveling memories are about or because of hosts who I’ve had, who’ve shown me amazing parts of their cities, and made sure I ate the best stuff ;)
Interests
My work is painting sets for theaters, and I try to paint for myself on my own time, too. I love art and will have probably gone to all the major museums already in my trip, but would love to see smaller galleries with local artists! I like hanging out in parks/cemeteries, going to shows, eating yummy things. More a fan of getting a bottle of wine from a liquor store and walking around than of going to a bar. I don’t smoke and don’t drink a lot, but don’t care if you do. I love cats and dogs! I love reading and talking about books, especially sci-fi.

Teach, Learn, Share
I wanted to try Couch surfing because i believe it offers the best opportunity for a cultural exchange and to see how people in various parts of the world really live. I live in a fantastic little corner of the world (BERKELEY/SF AREA) and am always willing to show people around, but would love to see whatever other countries can teach!
Currently really interested in learning more about woodworking and construction. Always interested in personal histories and philosophies.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd say my skills are making art and story-telling, also always happy to help cook and clean and whatever else :) Since I've been doing workaways I think I understand how to be a good guest really well and will be courteous and helpful in exchange for letting me stay with you
I can't wait to meet you, potential hosts and friends!
