About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep things interesting.

ABOUT ME

I live in New Orleans playing guitar, recording music and working as an intraoperative neuromonitor in a hospital. I love playing, recording and mixing music. I also love to cook. If you stay with me or I stay with you I'll probably insist upon cooking you at least one meal. I also play in two bands who will be gigging at some point during the week while you're in town.

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you want when you want how you want who you want.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've stayed with dozens of people across the U.S. and abroad and hosted in NYC and New Orleans when I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I lived on several different friends couches for about a year in New York City. The few months I had apartments in NYC I usually had long term guests or provided couches for those who so generously gave me a place to sleep in my time there. I also allowed two of my friends to live with me for 3-5 months each, rent free, after moving to the city without jobs. I then took a cross country trip across the country staying with over 20 different hosts. I then moved in with a family I met on couchsurfing and cooked them meals in exchange for living on their couch. While my experience with couchsurfing has been more limited after moving in with my girlfriend, we still have the chance to occasionally host and couchsurfing remains my preferred method of travel.

Interests

I love playing and recording music. Guitar and bass are my primary instruments but I can also play drums and keyboards. I also love books, the occasional movie, eating, cooking, economics, nutrition, running, biking and exploring.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books and music and have been pretty into movies as well.

Off the top of my head a few of my favorite books include After the Quake, the Stranger, Tropic of Cancer, Factotum and Sirens of Titan.

Music would include Mahavishnu Orchestra, Santigold, Miles Davis, Rage Against The Machine, Ani Difranco, Snoop Dog, Notorious B.I.G., Kid Cudi, Charles Mingus, David Bowie, Grinderman, Nine Inch Nails, Leftover Crack, Portishead, New Mastersounds, Between The Buried and Me, Aeretha Franklin, Soulive, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Tom Waits. Also, basically anything, tastes are always changing.

Movies I haven't been really into for the past several years. A few of my past favorites were Pulp Fiction, O Borther, Where Art Thou?, The Big Lebowski and Princess Mononoke. The only movie I've ever owned is Fritz the Cat.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Pizza in Brooklyn/ Wine in Napa Valley/ Cuban Coffee in little Havana (Miami)/ Partying for a week in New Orleans/ Mezcal purchased in Mexico/ Shooting in Texas/ Working on music and getting paid for it.

I've also been to every state in U.S. with the intentional exception of Ohio. I've been to almost every major U.S. city.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are interested in music I'm happy to share my knowledge of music theory, guitar and production techniques/ tips/ philosophies with you. I also study economics and love to discuss current economic issues.
