To be curious, learn, and enjoy life through interacting with people, plants, books, natural resources, technology, music, food, etc. I strive to laugh, learn new skills, help others, dance, and celebrate life.

Ser curioso, disfrutar la vida con la gente, las plantas, los libros, el medio ambiente, la tecnologia, la musica, la comida, etc. Intento reirme, aprender nuevos habilidades tecnicos, ayudar a los demas, bailar, y celebrar la vida.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have enjoyed hosting friends of friends and meeting spanish/english conversation exchange partners in Chicago for several years. I decided to join Couchsurfing because I am traveling through the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico in December 2014 through Spring/Summer 2015. I lived and studied in Guatemala and Mexico City ten years ago, and am now returning to Mexico and Central America. I look forward to meeting and learning with new people on my travels.

Me da gusto invitar a los amigos de mis amigos a quedarse en mi casa. He conocido a muchas personas atraves del intercambio de ingles y espanol en Chicago. Ahora me encuentro en couchsurfing porque estoy viajando en el Yucatan de Mexico durante el diciembre 2014 y la primavera/el verano de 2015. Hace diez anyos, vivi y estudie en Guatemala y Mexico, y ahora vuelvo a Mexico y Centro America. Espero conocer a nuevas personas con quien podria aprender durante mi viaje.

Interests

I love to cook, share stories, listen to music, speak Spanish, and learn new skills. I
have studied plants and trees in the Chicago area for the past several years. I love learning about plants and their different practical uses and medicinal properties. Before traveling to Mexico, I stayed with friends in New Orleans and have really enjoyed learning plants in this sub-tropical zone. I am looking forward to learning and exploring further south.

Me gusta cocinar, contar los cuentos, escuchar la musica, hablar espanol, y aprender nuevas habilidades. He estudiado las plantas y arboles de Chicago durante cinco anyos. Me da gusto aprender a cerca de las plantas y como usarlas como medicina y herramientas. Antes de viajar a Mexico, me quede en Nueva Orleans y he disfrutado aprender de las plantas en la zona sub-tropical. Espero aprender y viajar a lugares mas hacia el sur.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy music from the past, present, and around the world. Reggae, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Motown, and Hip Hop. I also listen to the many music traditions from Mexico, Central America, West Africa, India, Middle East, South America, and wherever else I can hear sound waves travel. One of my favorite concerts was Santana in el zocalo en el d.f.
My favorite movies make me laugh, cry, and inspire me to work for justice and enjoy life. These are often documentaries or historical films that educate me on the past and present challenges. I also enjoy comedy films. Two of my favorite documentaries are Dark Days and Darwin's Nightmare. Lately, I have been watching Key and Peele and laughing hard.
In the past, I loved to read novels: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Stranger, Lord of the Flies, 1984, One Flew Over the Cookoos Nest, and Jack Kerouac. Now I am reading books about plants, fungi, insects y Las Venas Abiertas de America Latina.

Me gusta la musica del pasado, el moderno, y de todos lados del mundo. El reggae, jazz, blues, motown, rock, y el hip hop. Tambien me gusta escuchar la musica de Mexico, Centro America, Africa, India, El medio oriente, sudamerica, y cualquier otro lugar que se escuchan las ondas de la musica. Mi concierto favorito fue Santana en el zocalo del D.F. en Mexico.
Mis peliculas favoritas me hacen reirme, llorar, y me inspiran a trabajar para la justicia y disfrutar la vida. Frecuentemente estas son documentales o peliculas que cuentan la historia de algun desafio del presente o el pasado. Aun me gustan las comedias. Mis favoritos documentales son "Dark Days" y "Darwin's Nightmare." Lo que mas me hace reir ahora es el programa Key and Peele.

I can offer my sense of humor, help with english, delicious meals, washing dishes, help with house cleaning, stories, and height.

Ofrezco mi sentido de humor, ayuda con el ingles, preparo la comida rica, puedo lavar las ollas, ayudo a limpiar la casa, mis cuentos, y soy alto.
