About Me

Hello all! My name is Bianca, I identify myself as a passionate deaf person who loves to travel, dance, and has a great thirst for knowledge. I'm a humanitarian who believes in breaking communication barriers and coming together as a collective to stand up for the people and Mother Earth. I have a wanderlust spirit; I embrace diversity, and I love experiencing different cultures. I strive to meet like-minded individuals and hope to make life-long friends in my travels.

After my incredible 3 month journey across Europe, I couldn't help but prepare myself for another trip once I got home. Coming up this winter, with my boyfriend Antonio, is a great road trip from Miami, FL to Oakland CA! Although a US Citizen and he an Italian, we are both visiting many of these cities for the first time. Refer to my public trips for the dates and details!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Staying in one place, with a stable and consistent schedule does not bode well with my heart and spirit. I'm always striving to travel. My life forever changed when I decided to drop everything and go abroad in May 2016. I began my journey with some couchsurfing experiences in my pocket. I have to say I've met the kindest and most generous people who will do so much to take care of their guests. I'm absolutely touched and fully appreciate the existence of Couchsurfing! I'm inspired to return the kindness I have received thus far to fellow travelers from far and near.

Interests

My interests includes dancing, particularly African and the Diaspora Dance forms, although I've studied Modern, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Somatics (alexander technique, yoga, laban movement analysis). I'm fascinated by the human anatomy and what it's capable of. I'm a reader, and I'm intrigued by historical, spiritual, philosophical and scientific subjects. I'm a craft beer ethusiast who looks forward to trying some from different parts of the world. I love coffee and I'm very interested in learning different sign language from each culture I come across. I'm interested in a career of traveling and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Music, Movies, and Books

EDM music, particularly Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, and Bonobo. Big fan of the Beatles. I have more favorite TV shows than I do movies: The Fringe, The X-Files, Lost Girl, Haven, Gotham, Flash, Nikita, to name a few. Some books that have shifted my perception on life include Lies Across America, Forbidden History, The Healing Wisdom of Africa, and Kinky Gazpacho.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went back in time on a research trip in Georgia and South Carolina, experiencing the history of my ancestors in the streets of Savannah. I got to meet and interview The Gullah People, who have been closed off to the outside world up until recently, on one of the sea islands outside of South Carolina. Their language and culture, completely authentic and untouched. I was very blessed to be in presence and experience their way of life.

My first 3 month solo trip across Europe this past summer was the turning point in my life. Since then, I've met the love of my life in Italy, and traveled with him extensively in Europe and in the USA.

I've made the move to live in Gragnano, Napoli, Italy December 2016.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an awakened individual and I love to share my knowledge with a passion! I can also teach anyone American sign language and spread an awareness of the beautiful deaf culture and our way of life.

I'm a self-learner, reading to expand my awareness, consciousness, and to open my eyes to the truth that universe emits. I love to learn something new from those I meet along my journey.
