Overview
About Me
I’ve grown up on a sleepy rainforest mountain in tropical Queensland (Australia), which is nice and all, until I discovered what lay beyond my tiny hometown. For the past 7yrs I have flitted about the world falling in love with strange places, repeatedly stumbling out of my comfort zone, meeting life-changing people, climbing mountains, hiking across countries, and learning more about myself (and humans in general) each day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While I love staying in hostels or camping, Couchsurfing provides something totally different and (in my opinion) vital to a true traveler’s experience - seeing places from a local’s perspective. I don’t gravitate to the mass tourist hotspots; I don’t fancy waiting hours for a meal in the centre of town. The friendships I’ve gained through Couchsurfing are long lasting and meaningful, and I’ve learnt so much about the places I’ve been that I would never have discovered for myself.
Interests
I write a lot. Love books; books are my children. Travel far and wide mostly on my own. Food is life. Long-distance walking. Mountain summits. Castle ruins. Rowboats. Art. Cobblestone laneways. Forests. Woodland critters. Open-minded people. Jokes that no one else laughs at.
I like weirdos. I like spontaneous ideas that lead to the most memorable moments; simplicity is undiluted happiness, and I’ve spent the best nights of my life sitting on a rooftop with friends/strangers laughing at the stars.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing? I walked 800km from one side of Spain to the other.
Another: I spent a month in Nepal volunteering to help empower local women - training them to be tour guides, as well as teaching English, sexual health, women’s rights, and how to regain their confidence/independence after escaping a life of human trafficking.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach people about the Australian lifestyle I'm sure.. And, as cliched as it might sound, how to enjoy the simple things in life. I'm all about living in the moment and appreciating just "being."
I would love to meet people who can teach me the culture/traditions and authenticity of their city that everyday tourists don't always know about. Those who can show me things that you won't find on a mass-produced visitor's map. Even if it's just a big old tree. Sometimes it's the simplest things that are the most beautiful.
