About Me

Hi! I'm an American currently studying abroad in Marburg, Germany. I'm pursuing a dual degree in French and German and a minor in International Studies. I love getting to know new people and cultures, plus the travel is a great perk!

More pertinently, I'm a non-smoker but smoking doesn't bother me. I've lived with three host families and my family has hosted over 10 exchange students, so I like to think that I am very respectful of other peoples lifestyles and customs.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As much as I love travelling, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures, my bank account doesn't quite agree. I think that Couchsurfing is a great way to get to know people in the destination you're going, which is generally something that people who are "on a budget" prefer to do. I think CS is truly set up to connect people, not just make people's homes into hotels, which I really enjoy.

Interests

My biggest interest is linguistics--I love learning new languages and how they work! Aside from that, though, I love being outside, swimming, hiking, and playing volleyball.

Music, Movies, and Books

I will listen to just about any music, although metal is probably last on my "favorites" list. I don't mind listening to it, but it isn't something I would choose on my own time.

I am very much a scaredy cat, so my favorite movies are always comedies. I really love the classic funny movies from the 90's with Jim Carey, Chevy Chase, Chris Farley, etc.

I love reading, so narrowing down a favorite book is hard. "Ghosts I have been" has always been a favorite for me, and more recently, I finished the HP series and I loved it. I don't know why I waited so long to read it! I recently finished a book in French called "Sous les Vents de Neptune," which was also a great read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I taught English at a French middle school for 3 months. It was an incredible experience--I met great people and learned so much, both professionally and personally.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help you with English, of course, and I'd love to speak in French or German with you! My Spanish is pretty basic, so if you're patient (or equally as terrible as I am), then we could also do that! I love listening, so any story you've been dying to tell will have an avid listener!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some of my American home culture and travel stories, plus I love cooking, so I could prepare a meal for you if you trust me to be in your kitchen.
