About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be surprised ...

ABOUT ME

Curious learner. Adventurous. A reader of non-fiction: theory, philosophy, ethnography, social theories such as: constructionism, narrative approaches, symbolic interactionism etc. This leads me into other fields of course. I'm old and slower moving than I used to be, but I rarely turn down a challenge. I recently climbed a (small) mountain in Hawaii.I was disabled 3 years ago but surgery restored me, so I look forward to climbing more mountains (slowly!)I like almost everyone and am especially fond of the odd ducks.I'm so old that I've done a lot of things such as: age 17: bred thoroughbred horses; age 19 artist in SoHo; later licensed coonhound judge;welder; auto mechanic;farmer;nationally known fiber artist; art teacher, life drawing (nudes);breeder of champion Welsh corgis and show chairman; life-time member of the National Arachnid society;renovated farmhouses;raised three fairly decent children;presented at national academic conferences, written a peer-review published article, three papers in process. Just starting a new job managing the behavior of 90 high school students who are above normal intelligence but have other "issues"! Good times.I read quite a lot
and for fun, I drive my 1992 Saab convertible , top down, music full tilt.

PHILOSOPHY

~ so subtle and inviting is the work of science that we become complicit in our own enchainment ~ Foucault

~ so subtle and inviting is the work of science that we become complicit in our own enchantment~

Awesome. I slept in the monk's bed! (no monk in it at the time!)In NZ, I stayed with the most outrageous CS host. Au: sweetest, most generous hostess, DC: smartest daughters, Pittsburgh: most musical . . .
