About Me

ABOUT ME

I work in sustainable travel and am a committed environmentalist. I am interested in zero waste, veganism, growing vegetables, cooking stuff from scratch, musical theatre and language learning!

PHILOSOPHY

I am a positive and optimistic person. I see the bright side of most things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In the past I have organised language exchanges events and picnics in London which have been loads of fun!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Taking part in language exchange events in London and I did my first Couchsurfing with a great guy in Greece!

Interests

The Environment. I am a bit of a recycling maniac (travelling when there are no recycling facilites does cause me pain)
Travelling (goes without saying)
International Cookery- I love making the most exotic and foreign thing I can find in the recipe book! The more ingredients I have no idea what they are, the better. Although it does make for expensive eating...

Music, Movies, and Books

I am particularly into Katzenjammer at the moment. Anyone heard of them? A norwegian folk girl band that are insanely talented and do such crazy music, I could just listen to them over and over again.

Renan Luce is also flavour of the month at the moment- a french folky artist.

I love the TV series Lost, and have recently got into Gavin and Stacey and the Inbetweeners- I laughed a worrying amount whilst watching those. Otherwise there is always the Irish comedy Father Ted which will never fail to crack me up.

One of the most interesting books I read recently was 'The Outliers' by Malcolm Gladwell', which is like a study of success, and the reasons behind it. Fascinating! I could talk about that for a few hours.

Also the Christian Spirituality book, 'Blue like Jazz' by Donald Miller. Subtitled as 'Non-Religious Thoughts on Christian Spirituality', that pretty much sums it up. But this guy is such a great writer, he made me burst out laughing on the metro a lot,and it is literally just his unstructured musings, but is honestly gripping.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Macchu Picchu, Peru. Nuff said?

Actually, also the Great Barrier reef. I went scuba diving with my sister there off Green Island, where I sat crossed legged on the sea bed and took a photo of my hand next the a clown fish and its anenome. Totally Awesome (finding nemo turtle style).

Teach, Learn, Share

Wellllll I suppose I could teach English or French, as I speak both (English is my mother tongue, but I am pretty fluent in French also).

Otherwise, singing is something I have had a lot of tutoring in over the years, and particularly musical theatre! So if anyone is interested in that, brill!

I would LOVE to get some advice re a career as a session musician, as well as breaking my way into the international development sector, if anyone has any inside info that would be amazing :)
