About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To continually be interested and interest others.
ABOUT ME
I am a soft spoken but passionate lady. I am an artist, cyclist, and generally pleasant person!
I am currently a puppeteer and puppet designer/maker. Before I left the states in 2010, I was a preschool teacher, baker, and toymaker.
I am greatly influenced by William Morris, George Orwell, Naom Chomsky, and George Monbiot in my political thinking; Ronnie Burkett, Richard Teschner, Javanese shadow and rod puppet masters, and my Puppetmistriss Grandmother in my puppeteering; Harry McClintok, Pete Seeger, and Woody Guthrie in my accordion playing; and Winsor McCay, Jean Giraud, Tony Millionaire, and Peter Blegvaad in my illustrating.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am just traveling for now as I am a perpetual house guest but when I DO have a couch/bed/floorspace to offer you can be sure that I will repay my good couchsurfing karma and host as I can.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I met a very friendly couple in Copenhagen while I was there who made the trip very pleasant.
Interests
Bicycles! I was a member of a bicycle dance troupe in Seattle called the Bicycle Belles, a bicycle polo player, a member of a mutant bicycle club called the Dead Babies, and the founder of a revivalist Socialist bicycle Club called the Clarion Cycling Club. Now I am mostly a bicycle tourist. I found it is the best means of travel for me. Inexpensive, beautiful, simple, active, and just fast enough.
Creating! I sew, draw, sculpt, carve, paint, cut paper, and make music. Recent interests also include: wood lathing, welding, and marionette making.
Nature! I cycle everywhere and my favorite way to travel is on top of a friendly and reliable bicycle. I will bicycle tour until I die (it runs in my family). I hike, climb, swim, run, and contemplate in the nature.
Nice people! That's all.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music! Tom Waits, Annette Hanshaw, Captain Beefheart, Leonard Cohen, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, and Neil Young on his own, Cat Power, Devendra Banhardt, Billie Holiday, Edith Piaf, Django Rainhardt, Sonic Youth, and on and on.
Books! I'm on a classic English novel phase with Wind in the Willows, Three Men in a Boat, and Wuthering Heights. Also reading Guns, Germs and Steel, and anything written by Dylan Thomas.
Movies! Favorites include: Withnail and I, The Thin Man Series, Mildred Peirce, Harold and Maude, The Dark Crystal, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep, Chinatown, Rosemary's Baby, PeeWee's Big Adventure, and too many more to put down here.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A favorite memory would be when I worked on a cheese farm in Toulouse for 2 weeks with my best friend. It was an amazing experience.
If I picked a category of amazing experiences it would be all of my bicycle tours. They are all incredible and all so different. Solo, with family, with friends, with lovers, with strangers- there is nothing like it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to listen before I talk because I am learning so much from so many people all the time. In the end this makes me quiet but thoughtful all the same. I will talk when the notion strikes me (or after that second glass of wine...).
