About Me

CURRENT MISSION
"reach garden perfection, decide where to travel next, pour the perfect machiatto.

ABOUT ME

We have a wonderful home which we want to share with others. Passionate about the outdoors and the place we live; the valley is a treat. Hope to share our passions and learn of new places - looking for our next travel adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hope to meet new people and learn about different cultures, both in our home and travelling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have had numerous surfers and are thoroughly convinced that this is a unique way to meet people. We are overwhelmed at the various reasons people have for coming our way: exploring wilderness, looking for lost friends, searching for the perfect place to live, making ties to projects and people. Surfers provide wonderful energy and it always exciting to be a part of.

Interests

We are avid readers who read everything from prize-winning novels to cookbooks by eccentric chefs. Deb is into yoga and loves her classes, circuit training at the gym, skiing cross country in the morning and downhill in the afternoon, home to sew or most importantly work in the garden. Biff is into computers, addicted to Wired magazine; week nights are hockey, Aikido and recently Tai Chi. We do the market on Saturdays then make espresso macchiatos for all our pals who arrive on their bikes.

Music, Movies, and Books

We have a comprehensive library and love to share books; I continue to send titles to friends and travellers we have met. We love music - hit the festivals in summer and love to get recommendations for books, movies and music from others!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Shot the rapids at Surge Narrows in an open kayak...spent time in a village in Nepal working on an irrigation system - a rare glimpse into a culture so different from ours. Building houses in villages in Guatemala. Living in the valley - beautiful everyday.

Teach, Learn, Share

Make a mean espresso, sew a french seam, names of all the Booker winners, life-saving Aikido moves, quote from Shakespeare or TS Elliot.
As surfer guests in Brugge, we learned from Johann to do one thing at your home that is truly unique - he makes you read a poem from your home country!

What I Can Share with Hosts

information about the valley, travel stories, shared cooking - oh the recipes the recipes! Lots of photos, lots of books!
