ABOUT ME

We are an open minded couple that enjoy learning new things. We have both been working in Auckland for the last 5 years, and before that we worked down in Wellington. We enjoy the outdoors and like to go for walks. We love cooking and learning about food from all cultures, plus introducing people to food we like. Both also into computers, for Glen, Linux is both job and a hobby.

We own a home in Auckland and have been getting into gardening recently.

PHILOSOPHY

We do not take things for granted, therefore we appreciate the generosity of people we meet on couch surfing website who offer their help on our travel.

We both believe in freedom and sharing, and both host different community interest meetup groups.

We like to do things that help others and build friendships that will last. We also love having fun and are looking for adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We enjoy being part of mostly on line community groups, and are getting into hosting couch surfers, as well as will be on holiday soon where we hope to do couch surfing, as we really would like to meet people from the countries we visit, rather than just seeing the inside of hotel rooms.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have been couch surfing in China, Europe and America. We also sometimes go to the couch surfer drinks in Auckland.

We have hosted a number of people which we have enjoyed.

Glen grew up being a Wwoof host, (willing workers on organic farms), so used to have people staying often. It was great, so getting back into it, however, now couch surfing as we don't live on a farm.

Interests

Christine is interested in socializing. She is also a keen on learning about business and has a sales background. Christine loves cooking and baking and sometimes makes hand made chocolates.

Glen is especially keen on open source software and software freedom and is a contributor to the free operating system for computers called Linux. Glen also loves the outdoors, skiing and driving around in his almost classic 1985 Toyota MR2.

Music, Movies, and Books

Glen: well, "the love guru"... so funny.. enjoyed "how to train your dragon" the other day and like movies that make me feel happy. Books. Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy, along with a helping of country music, mixed with a bit of Japanese techno.

Christine: enjoys a range of movies, from chick flicks to art house. Will be catching up on all the latest movies on the flights around the world for sure.

We both like the theater and recently enjoyed: Cats, Avenue Q and My fair lady.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Christine has dug a snow cave with a group of 6 people and slept on the mountain over night.

Glen, did not go to school, until he got a job at a school. He grew up home schooled, then started teaching computers at a local school.

Teach, Learn, Share

we like to share what we know. We know stuff about cooking, the outdoors, computers, New Zealand and Hong Kong. Christine can speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Glen, speaks only English, but can program computers in about 20 different languages.

We would love to learn about more cooking, baking and about the culture of places we visit.
