About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Improving my skills at procrastination

ABOUT ME

Intellectually curious, avid reader, observant, occasionally arrogant, occasionally generous, driven more by heart than mind.

PHILOSOPHY

I have a bit of a problem with that because by nature I am a procrastinator;-) At the same time I would like to be able to achieve certain things in life. To put it simply: seek for pleasure and achievements and as long as you are not hurting other human beings - it should be fine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far by providing a couch and sometimes a company to visitors to New York City. Believe me - there are more than I can handle. So far - so good, no regrets;-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first CS experience as a guest of Anya and Misha in Moscow (Aug 2007) was fantastic! The New Year 2007 in Poland with hosts in Wroclaw was inspiring too.

Interests

Photography, film, music, culinary arts and current events are all within the range of my interests. Women too. After all these years I still fail sometimes to grasp their mysterious ways;-) Remember U2 song?

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip Dick, "1984" by George Orwell, "How the Steel Was Tempered" by Nikolay Ostrovsky. Movies: "No Country for Old Men" by Cohen brothers, "Blade Runner" by Ridley Scott, "Heat" by Michael Mann. Music: Coldplay, Mars Volta, Block Party, Beyonce, Philip Glass, Interpol, Dandy Warhols.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sunrise at Gunung Bromo peak in Eastern Java, diving near Manado, Sulawesi, walks on Charles Bridge in Prague, sunsets with friends on the banks of Hudson River - these are some of the experiences that make life complete.

Teach, Learn, Share

I taught ESL (English as a Second Language) as a volunteer to a group of older New York immigrants between March and June 2008. It was a satisfying experience, one that made me feel useful, purposeful.
