About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm trying to learn about everything and meet people that can trade good stories and wisdom with me.

ABOUT ME

I am a writer, reader, traveler, and a thinker. I have lived in Nashville, San Francisco, Finland, and the Czech Republic and I have learned invaluable things from everywhere I've lived and all of the friends that I've met. I like twangy, bluesy/southern music and anything with soul. Where I grew up, we don't treat people differently based on what is in their wallet, social status, career success, or anything like that. We give respect and smile a lot and this is really important for me.

I guess my friends would say that I walk to the beat of a slightly different drum. I've got an odd sense of humor, but I get along with everyone. I was raised as a gentleman and a gentleman I will remain. I am pretty easy to talk in to doing just about anything as long as it's not a TERRIBLY bad idea. > Adventures, man.

I have been described as a modern-day rambler.

My dream is to open up the culture of travel to many more people and empower them to believe that travel is an important part of life and education. (This especially applies to friends and family in my little "Southern Bubble.")

PHILOSOPHY

I'm just an optimistic dude.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted plenty of travelers through couch surfing and other mediums and I have been hosted in a few places around the world. I am so appreciative of this system and I absolutely love the respect I have given and received and the lack of abuse within the system. The Couchsurfing ideals of giving, friendship, and adventure are things that we should all perpetuate.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with a few great people and it just reaffirmed what a blessing couchsurfing is. It's a great way to spread the love for sure! Getting into the hosting game has been fun as well. It's such a sweet exchange to pay forward the kindness that one has been shown. Now I am heading to Europe indefinitely and I'm not sure what my hosting situation will be, but there is so much to gain in both hosting and surfing.

Interests

I love water skiing, rock climbing, reading, rugby, writing, and the outdoors. We are so blessed to have such a beautiful world.

If you sit down with me and talk life to me over coffee/drinks, we'll definitely be friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of different kinds of music from hip-hop to bluegrass and a lot of things in between. The music I listen to most is southern rock and roll. I like Deer Tick, The Band, The Stones, Van Morrison, CCR, Alabama Shakes, The Kings of Leon, Son Volt, Old Crow Medicine Show, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, and plenty more!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My buddy and I decided to drive to Cincinnati and surprise my friend that goes to Xavier there. We got to Cinci at about 2 a.m. riding in a little p.o.s. car and slept on the couches in the lobby of his dorm. When my friend woke up in the morning, he walked by us sleeping on the couches, did a double take, then woke us up elated to see us. That was cool. I also have snowboarded in Colorado, been to Reno, Walked the freedom trail in Boston, and wrestled in a bunch of places throughout the southeast. I lived in Finland for a year, upheld a promise to be somewhere at a certain time by working two jobs, and I have played rugby with an awesome group of guys in Finland. If we're counting adventures and friends, I feel extremely rich. It's not monetary.

Teach, Learn, Share

I told my former girlfriend to pack her bags on a three day weekend a few minutes after deciding we were going to Washington DC. We did go to DC and when we got there we had a little trouble finding a place to stay. The first night we stayed in a crappy motel that was waaayyyy over priced. The second night we searched for something cheaper and hotels.com hooked us up with a 4 star hotel cheaper!! The lesson is: FORTUNE FAVORS THE BOLD.

I can teach you a lot about Prague and I like talking about history and ideas.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I tell pretty good stories, I can cook you some southern food, I definitely like to have a good time, I can teach you all kinds of dance moves, I have one really good joke that I can tell you.
