ABOUT ME
So begins my next adventure in Germany! Currently studying in Magdeburg after having worked in Tübingen for two years. Super excited to be able to continue to have the opportunity to meet new people and experience new cultures everyday. Will gladly talk for hours about football, martial arts movies (or other movies), science, current events, or whatever else floats your boat :) And always looking for opportunities to practice my German!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have done some events with local couchsurfers in Tuebingen and have surfed once before (quite the experience...lends itself more to an in-person story).
Interests
My main goal in coming to Europe was to travel, and I love getting the chance to experience new places/people/cultures/history/ideas. I am a huge football(soccer) fan, and enjoy both playing the sport and following the professional leagues. I also love to play table tennis and play it as a sport - I take it a bit more serious than the average lounge game. I read quite a bit (like an inordinate amount of time), watch movies (recently more TV), follow current events, and relish the opportunity to hear other people's viewpoints on these and other topics. Finally, I recently realized how incredibly awesome nature is and how much I took it for granted and so am getting more into hiking/ embracing the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books
70's and 80's rock and singer/songwriters are my go to (Billy Joel, Elton John, Simon and Garfunkel, FLEETWOOD MAC, Van Morrison). But I listen to all types of more modern stuff as well (alt-J, Bloc Party, Vampire Weekend), a fair amount of techno/house and some more modern bands. I love hearing about music tastes from other cultures as well!
I am an avid reader - I admit I read a bunch of crappy thrillers (think Dan Brown), but am also into some more "literature" type works. Vladimir Nabokov and Franz Kafka are my favorite authors, and on a different side of things I really like Michael Crichton as well! Have read a few Murakami's in the past couple years and was hooked.
Movies - also wide ranging. Top 5 favorites (not in terms of film quality per se, but watchability) : Blade, Lord of the Rings, Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, Air Force One
Some more films: Midnight in Paris, Silence of the Lambs, Unforgiven, oh I am a sucker for martial arts films as well...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Impromptu street festival in Barcelona with a CRAZY amount of fireworks - felt pretty awesome to emerge from the metro and be immediately included in the celebration despite being a foreigner
