About Me

I am a professional photographer, living in Kalgoorlie-Boulder in the Goldfields of Western Australia.

My wife and I have been married since 2012, and spent 3 years living in Melbourne. My wife is a chef, and a damn good one at that, and yes she still cooks for me after she finishes work ;)

I was born and raised in Kalgoorlie, much like my wife. I have dabbled in a few industries varying from hospitality, to marketing, to building and photography. In a more recent turn of events, I have just started a partnership with two others in a Communications and Marketing agency.

Bec (my wife) and I hope to have a few cafes and a roastery in the coming years, along with a container house and a few little kids.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife and I have been planning for the past few years to go and meet the rest of the world.

FINALLY! It is happening.

The backbone to our trip was that we dont just want to visit the touristy spots and visit 'X' restaurant because a hotel recommended it. We really wanted to make sure that we get to meet people through our journeys and we have only heard amazing things about Couchsurfing.

Were really just hoping that we will get to make a heap of new friends and get to really see the places we visit for what they are really like, and not the stereotypes were already know.

Music, Movies, and Books

W have a bit of a mixed bag. The only music we are yet to appreciate is Country. We have heard a few absolute bangers, but largely, Country isn't our cup of tea.

As for movies, one of my all time favourites is Forrest Gump. Jumping to the other extreme, I also love 300. So, as long as the acting is decent and the cinematography is inline, I'd probably enjoy it.

I am in between two books right now. One is the Pressure Principle, which is written by a sports psychologist. He talks about the way people handle pressure and how to adapt to take stress and perform better. Really really interesting.
My other book is 13 hours, which the recent film is based off. So far so good, but I have only just started.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to New Zealand at the age of 15 with my cousin (17) to attend college for a year in 2008. It was an amazing experience and I would do it all over again. It stretched me, expanded my thinking and opened me up to a whole new world of possibilities and people I would have never met otherwise.

Teach, Learn, Share

My wife and I are more than happy to share my knowledge of our crafts with those who want to know about them. This is something that we both really enjoy.

I have found that passion is infectious. I am more than happy and excited to learn about people's skills and experiences if they're happy to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

To be honest, I am not sure what is meant to go in here, but the only thing that comes to mind is sharing my knowledge and skills in photography. It seems as though everywhere I go, there are people who want to know how to take better photos. I have taught numerous classes, and being able to pass on my knowledge would be amazing.

My wife naturally LOVES to cook. This is HUGE bonus haha. She is the sort of person who loves to give, and give perfection in her craft. She's a huge asset in the kitchen, and she is more than happy to ensure our hosts eat well.
