About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Biting routine, increasing ambitions

ABOUT ME

I'm not going to write about what kind of person I am here, since I feel that other people's opinion about personality are much more telling and you may find some things about me in the references left below. However, I'd like to use this box to promote a certain aspect about me, which has not been recognized by others yet:

I'm a super fantastic navigator of public transportation systems! The metro in Paris, the tube in London or the subway in New York - piece of cake to me: I easily find out how to get anywhere in the fastest way possible and I love to appoint myself as "U-Bahn-Chef" (Boss of the Underground) on city trips - I'm most certainly dismayed that this wonderful talent of mine has never been thoroughly valued here or anywhere else;-)

PHILOSOPHY

As a John Lennon fan I'm bound to say: "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans". This is true in a lot of ways, soI'm trying to live my life aiming to be positive and open about the present, being at peace with the past and always looking forward, always being curious about whatever is gonna happen

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

One way I love to participate in CS is by taking part in the many CS events and activities that take place in Hamburg. I like to come together with all the other CS hosts and travellers in the regular meetings, random bbq events, concerts or late-night partying.

I'm living in Hamburg for three years now and sometimes I still feel like a tourist, eager to discover new and exciting places in this city. I'm very happy to let people surf my couch, share a good old dinner with them and other friends and together discover this great city.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfing, Hosting, Meeting - so many great experiences and people.

Interests

Music is very important to me: I love going to concerts and play a bit of bass and guitar myself. I also sing in an indie-rock band - we're called "the trouble is", make our own songs (of course) and are about to release our first few songs very soon - so watch this space!:-)

Football, big fan of Liverpool FC and St Pauli

Newspapers: I'm an addict! (my perfect day involves me sitting in a cosy café reading the latest newspapers for hours on end.. hardly ever happens though, but once I'm retired in about 40 years it'll be all I do;-))

Meeting people: from all over the world

Travelling: Europe & Asia. I've a soft spot for Eastern Europe (well Central Europe, geogpraphically anyway), love the Baltics and am looking forward to visit Serbia and Bosnia this April (and I'm not mixing up the Baltics and the Balcans here, just love the Balcans too:-))

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge fan of British comedy, starting with all the stuff from Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, The Office or Extras. It doesn't always have to be British though, I'm also a huge fan of the series Flight of the Conchords.

Bands I love listening to are Joy Division, The Cure, Spoon, Okkervil River, FM Belfast, Neutral Milk Hotel etc etc. My absolute heroes forever are The Beatles though, this is the band I always return to and my friends all think I am a bit of a Beatles nerd.. You can certainly ask me anything about the band, I always know the answer:-)

Movies I Love: Into the Wild, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Control.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love to travel on ferries. One wonderful thing I've done was taking a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn in deepest Winter, riding through the icy Baltic Sea - gorgeous!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to think of myself as a bit of a wine connaisseur. I love to sip a fine red wine and then ramble about its full body or nutty aroma, getting on everyone's tits in the process. Because frankly, I don't have an effin' clue! Still, it's one thing that I'd love to learn: So if you, dear reader, happen to be a wine connaisseur I'd be very glad if you could teach me the divine skill of proper wine tasting<3
