About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Adventuring as much as possible! This is my first international trip since Covid, in france and Spain with my girlfriend Ali.
Travelling is my passion, exploring new places and learning about local culture.

ABOUT ME

I live and work in melbourne as an urban planner.
I want meet new people, hang out and visit the local sights. I am a traveller at heart, compassionate, friendly and very respectful. I believe being lost is simply a state of mind... I love exploring the unknown.

I grew up on a farm in Dartmoor, Australia (tiny town). I moved to Melbourne to study and did a year exchange in London. I speak French too.
I love everything about cities, adventures, language, culture, design, sport...
I also purchased a drone before travelling and have expanded my passion for photography. https://www.instagram.com/billygreenham/.

PHILOSOPHY

I grew up in a small town - community, family and acting selflessly are everything.
I consider myself a global citizen, and care for the plight of people everywhere.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been hosting many people over the past few years in Portland. It has been great fun showing people my home area and meeting so many great travellers.
Now that I am travelling I want to do the same - meet people who want to show their home area, culture and language.
I am very happy to cook and trade great stories for a bed - I think it's such an amazing way to travel. I know I'll be a great guest.
People tell me I ask challenging and interesting questions - I believe it's the best way to learn about the world.

Interests

Travelling... of course. Cycling, time outdoors, languages, urban planning/design/architecture.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's a very diverse taste and too much to mention. But I like rock, alternative, some dance. I don't watch much tv or movies. Some recent books are clockwork orange, the people smuggler, some non-fiction...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2017 I quit my job so that I could travel indefinitely, on a semi-planned voyage. I travelled 18 months across Asia, Europe and Africa! (And back across Russia)

China (2 months), Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan (6 weeks), Iran (3 weeks), France (5 weeks), Albania (2 weeks), a couple of weeks in Greece where I ran my first ever marathon! Then Italy (2 weeks), England (2 weeks), Christmas in Denmark (3 weeks), Turkey (4 weeks), Tanzania (6 weeks), Croatia for a month, a cycle tour in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, World Cup in Russia, France again, Berlin, Copenhagen... and back to Russia to return home.

I cycled from Rotterdam to Rome (2400km) with my father. Yes; on my bicycle.

I love cycling as a way to travel. I have a blog www.cyclingacrossborders.wordpress.com

I have back-packed East and West Europe, North America, South-East Asia.
I have lived in the Netherlands, Vancouver, London and studied in Melbourne.

Training for a marathon while travelling wasn’t easy, but now I have run the original Marathon!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning about other cultures: their language, food, politics, history.
Of course I love talking about mine too =)

I really want to learn as much about the local culture and language as possible.

I am also trying to improve my photography while I travel, plus I have a drone, so I am taking some pretty cool shots along the way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe being a good guest is being able to provide stories, food, conversation. I am happy exploring places by myself or with people. I am very respectful but fun. This is such an amazing opportunity to learn about other cultures and make new friends.
