About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live harder. Share with as many people as I can.

ABOUT ME

I am a 20 year-old fellow who can humbly say he needs, and sooo badly wants, to LEARN.
I want to learn about everything, but especially I want to learn things a book or course will not teach me. I think this is why I want to travel. Go out there, met the people who live where I go and learn from them.

I love maths, for their pureness, the fact that they are the very base upon which all other sciences are built (Congratulations if you are still reading my profile with attention at this point!)

I like to meet new people, see what they have to say. I'm very curious.

PHILOSOPHY

Even if the difference seems huge between someone and I, even if there seems to be no way of getting along, communication is the tool that will allow us to get by appearances, because we humans are all fundamentally the same.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

During summer 2008, I went to the East Coast and the South of the United States and met diverse people out there. I will also go to Spain in the last two weeks of August.
Then, from September and on, I will be able to host some people in my apartment in the great Québec City !

I would also like to do some English to French translation for the website, if there is still any to do...

Interests

Mathematics are what I want to make a living of. I better have "interest" in them
Sailing - I used to spend complete summers sailing with a catamaran at our family's summer place
Wine - I like tasting, but also reading about it and understand it fully
Food from across the world
Computer science
Music, especially British and Québécois
Running - I ran the Montreal marathon in 2007, but I want to run Boston some day
Guiness beer - Good beer

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies

12 Angry Men, Across the Universe, American Beauty, Pulp Fiction, Le dîner de cons, 15 février 1839, Scent of a Woman

Music

Radiohead, Daniel Bélanger, Harmonium, Jaco Pastorius, Karkwa, Patrick Watson, The Arcade Fire

Books

The Grapes of Wrath sure is my number one book. Heartbreaking book, if there ever was one. I liked "La Vie Devant Soi" and "1984" also. And I have read some of Plato's work too. I think I read seven of his dialogues. I am not aware of all philosophy that was written in history, but I would say there is no better starting point, plus it is far from being boring, it even made me laugh numerous times. Oh that Socrates truly was a great dude...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Running a marathon is pretty "amazingly" suffering

You get to see how Canada is "amazingly" huge when you drive from Montréal to Victoria and back

Sun rise from Brooklyn Bridge, New York

Chicken Shit Bingo in Austin, TX

Nathan's International Hot-Dog Eating Contest, July 4th 2008, New York City, NY

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give some "catch-up" math courses for whoever needs them. I'd actually be very glad to do that but if I get a request of this nature, I will be astonished !
I can also show someone the bascis of sailing
I can teach some knowledge about wine, although this would be interesting only for people who know almost nothing about it (by the way did you know wine is made of grapes ? Amazing !, isn't it ?)

Now what do I want to learn ? I would like to learn guitar. Dancing is definitely something I need to learn too (salsa, swing and breakdance would make me happy if I knew them). I need to learn other languages as well : Spanish (I have already begun with this one, but a little practice wouldn't hurt), Italian, German, Scottish English :P ahah
