About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am about to leave Toronto, this beautiful city, which I called home for a year. Even if it sounds a bit cheesy, I have to say that I have to figure out what I want next in life. That's easy, eh?

ABOUT ME

I want to create the good old times now. I try this by being as active as possible. I enjoy the precious time with people which I love, love to meet new people, and share important moments with others.
Otherwise I just try to live the good life by travelling, climbing, photographing, hiking, biking, partying, working, listening, talking, laughing.

My thesis focuses on blind spots in self-perception and interpersonal feedback... so read my references and tell me what you think ;)

PHILOSOPHY

Don't take yourself too seriously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate at CS meetings and try to surf a lot whenever I'm travelling.
Due to my living situation, I was not able to host in Toronto, but I want to get back to hosting as soon as I am back in Dresden and have my own place again.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I excperienced CS as a great opportunity to meet new, interesting people and learn about different cultures. Only gained good experiences. It is just amazing how helpful, open and warm hearted people are in every country! That's what I love about CS. I can tell more stories when we meet.

Interests

rock climbing (love it!), laughing (about stupid jokes, sometimes my own), good conversations, cooking (vegetarian style), listening (good) music (live!), playing the piano (not really anymore, but I still try to pretend, that I do it), singing (mostly for myself), creating simple rhymes...

As I'm working in a office during the week, I like to be in the nature during the weekend. I like hiking, biking and climbing. Canada has so much to offer! I admire the wilderness of this country!

I started jogging a while ago. I'm still very (very!) slow, so I'm tickled pink if I can actually overtake another jogger :)

I'm trying to manage one pull up... well I still hang in there.

Music, Movies, and Books

German bands like Wir sind Helden, Kraftklub, Mia
Go back to the Zoo - great Dutch band and
probably every band with an definite article (The Kooks, The Strokes, The Killers, The Fray, The Knife, ...)
Canadian input: The Strumbellas, The Rural Alberta Advantage, Feist, The Broken Social Scene

To be honest I haven't finished a book that is not related to my field for a longer time... At the moment I try to master Slaughterhouse Five and To Kill a Mockingbird.
I liked (back when I had more leisure time):
Hector and the search for happiness.
The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat.
Set this House in Order - amazing!
The Elegance of the Hedgehog.
And a real must: Harry Potter.

Movies are difficult... depends on my mood.
Never ever splatter and horrormovies - they freak me out.
Best movie ever: Some like it hot!
I recently watched The Lunchbox and I really enjoyed the quite friendliness of that movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Enjoying the view over Teotihuacán.
Giving my first talk at the biggest conference for social psychology.
Holding my godchild for the first time.
Staring at El Capitan in Yosimite National Park just admiring the power of that wall!
Canadian wilderness... damn it is so impressive.

Oh, and of course: Living abroad in the Netherlands and Canada

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a bit playing the piano. I'm playing it since I'm 7 years old.
I am a good vegetarian cook, we can share some recipies.
I love to garden, but I not sure about the quality of help here :)
Also can share a few insides from my studies :)
I can teach you how to climb.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Egypt, France, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
