About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring the world!

ABOUT ME

Travel is in my blood; I can't help it. I want to explore the world, live on every continent (yes, that includes Antarctica), experience different cultures. International travel is still relatively new for me, but I'm working on fixing that!

Currently, I'm living and teaching in China.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't panic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After recently cleaning out and dusting off the tiny spare bedroom in my apartment, I've begun hosting. It's a great way to meet new people, and there's a sort of vicarious pleasure in helping others avoid hotel costs.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosting as I can, surfing for the first time on my recent trip to Japan. Nothing but great experiences so far!

Interests

I love books, old things, quiet cafés, out-of-my-depth experiences, and discovery.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite movies: old Disney, most Pixar, Miyazaki and Wes Anderson and Akira Kurosawa films, Kill Bill, all the Kung fu movies.

Favorite authors: C.S. Lewis, Douglas Adams, Brian Jacques, G.K. Chesterton, Bill Shakespeare, Jhumpa Lahiri, Paolo Bacigalupi

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Solo roadtrip down the Alaska Canadian highway in winter. Watching the landscape change from Whitehorse all the way down to sunny Salinas, CA.

And then hoofing it to a cabin in the Rocky Mountains for a summer before driving the rest of the way across the U.S. to the East Coast.

Circumnavigating Taiwan by bicycle was also pretty awesome.

Teach, Learn, Share

Life is a grand adventure. When it seems tough, just think of any great adventure novel and how incredibly dull they would be without conflict. Adversity is what creates growth and allows us to become better than ourselves.

Life is running up the wrong escalator. If you're not moving forwards, you're moving backwards.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to swap travel stories and life experiences. Also more than happy to buy you a beer or two if you're interested!

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, England, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, Scotland, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
