ABOUT ME

Here are some things about me that might kind of get at who I am. I really like to make up recipes and to always assume they will turn out fine, no matter what. I laugh at my own jokes more than most people. I have a propensity for thoroughness, sticking with a task that I have set myself to long after the enjoyment has worn off. A question that often occurs relevant to me is 'why is this thing good/bad?' I could be happy with any career as long my friends worked with me. In the past I've likened myself to Ferris Bueller and just about all of my friends passionately disagreed. I've also likened myself to all of Bill Murray's characters (yes, all of them simultaneously), and fewer people seemed to disagree.

Interests

I really like going running, going snowboarding, going backpacking and camping, listening to music and pretending to make it, telling and hearing jokes, hanging out with my friends, science, politics, mathematics, philosophy, and baseball. I also really like the color of eggplants. Purple-black, yet not what you would imagine you'd get if you combine purple and black. You just somehow see the pure black and the pure purple all at once!

Music, Movies, and Books

Ive most recently been into movies that kind of force you to recognize the possibility of relating to the world in previously inaccessible ways (Between the Folds, Human Planet, Helvetica).

For books, some of my all-time favorites are Nietzsche & Wittgenstein, The Once and Future King, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Moby Dick.

My favorite bands are The Flaming Lips, Boards of Canada, Fugazi, Deerhoof, Bjork, Xiu Xiu, Liars, Cornelius, Daniel Johnston, Boredoms, Akron/Family, Animal Collective, Cocorosie, The Books, Smog, Fiery Furnaces, Bonnie Prince Billy, Brainiac, Wilco

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On 07/07/07 at 7:07 I saw this band, The Boredoms, play underneath the brooklyn bridge for 77 minutes with 77 drummers.
