About Me

I just graduated university but I, unfortunately, just found out that I don't want to work as a textile engineer/buyer. Instead I'd like to study some more in the area of sustainability, fair trade and organic textiles. I want to try to make this world a bit better by making the textile/fashion industry more sustainable.

I traveled a lot while studying and at the moment I work as an au pair in Rye Brook, a suburb near NYC. I have time off during the day and usually I don't have to work during the weekends, so I have enough time to travel and make new friends. That's a good thing because I have quite a list of places I want to explore in the USA.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is the best way to meet new and interesting people and to find the hidden gems in new cities and countries. Who better to learn from than the locals. Currently I'm quite active with the CS events, I like to go to at least 1 event a week and I've never been disappointed. I like to surf with CS'ers if I don't have to work in the weekends, but I've never hosted yet since I live with a host family.

Interests

I'm interested in traveling, learning new language, meeting new people from other cultures, getting out of my comfort zone, staying healthy (but not too healthy, cause I like to snack too), sleeping in, reading books or binge watch series on Netflix, going for a walk, meeting up with friends and having slow diners.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't really have a particularly favorite book or movie because I like to read and watch movies a lot, so it's just to difficult to pick one. But at the moment i'm a huge fan of Patrick Lee and (science) fiction books in general.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having a picknick at the crater of an active vulcano and wait until it got dark so we could see the lava.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always love to share travel stories and to learn something new. I especially like to learn how to cook traditional dishes from different countries and if you dare I can cook some traditional Dutch food.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I bring with me a positive outlook on life, a happy personality, fun traveling stories and if you're lucky, I might bring you something traditional Dutch.
