About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"In a world where there is so much to be done, I felt strongly impressed that there must be something for me to do" - Dorthea Dix
ABOUT ME
I am currently enrolled as a Ph.D. student at UNCC in order to obtain training in clinical, community, and health psychology. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I have a little dog named Ash whom I have partial custody over, split with my fiance Josh.
PHILOSOPHY
I grew up in a state that is known for its poverty and its ignorance. I love South Carolina, but I would like to be a force of good in a political context that tends to prefer stagnancy. Currently I live in NC, perhaps one day I will feel up to the challenge of promoting change in the presence of wonderful (*uh-cough*) people like Nikki Haley, Joe Wilson, and dirty ole Sanford.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have stayed with people abroad. I have also offered my place to visitors.

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently trying to read the bood "The Year of Living Biblically." I have also read a couple of novels by Pat Conroy, The Poisonwood Bible, Mountains Beyond Mountains, 3 Cups of Tea (I doub't Mortenson deserves the majority of the shit he's gotten recently).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think that this depends on who's asking; try on a few:
*I have worked with the homeless; I have a special place in my heart for any child that does not have a stable family. My family is big into international adoption, and I take pride in my work with DSS.
*I went to Dominican Republic years ago on a mission trip and was astounded to find people that seemed so much happier than typical Americans despite their lack of wealth or materialistic goods.
*A 10ft+ alligator tried to eat my crab basket once
*I have seen fireworks randomly explode above the Sydney Opera House, in a country that typically avoids all explosives, fireworks and other flamable devices.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love getting to know a city from the insider's perspective. I like feeling like I have familiar friends in a strange city; that's why I couch surf.
