About Me
Sending me cut/paste requests is OK!
Incomplete profiles and less than 4 references is NOT OK!
There are no codes or special words you need to write me. Now send me your request and get back to your life and/or travels, the rest of what I write here is optional information.
ABOUT ME: I tend to get anxious if I stay in one place too long, which is why travelling rocks. I am quick to make friends and laugh at life in general. I try to live in the moment, creating a reality that makes me happiest. I love going to old places with new friends and going to new places with old friends.
CURRENT MISSION: Live sustainably, find my piece of land, somewhere not nearby Babylon.
PHILOSOPHY: I try to do one thing every day that scares me. Dance like no-one is watching and sing like no-one is listening. A rock getting bashed by the waves of the ocean does not try to change the waves.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I first got onto couchsurfing when I started travelling in 2010. I had a great experience with one of the members while I was in Bethlehem and decided to check out this site after she told me about it
I want to start giving back to the community and decided to start hosting while staying in Athens. I love meeting travellers and think that I have more in common with the traveller than I do with the local life-time villager/city-slicker.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I met a couchsurfer in Nazareth and we hit it off and started travelling together.
She told me about an experience she had couchsurfing in Jordan and how much she enjoyed it. She had stayed with a Bedouin in the Wadi Araba dessert in a cave that was built 2400 years ago by the ancient Nabateans, the Bedouin's ancestors. She gave me his contact info and after "friending" him on facebook we arranged for me to stay with him that very week.
I was travelling from Israel to Jordan on a bus and met two couch surfers from the peace corps in Georgia that were going to Jordan and were staying with the same dude! I decided that it was a sign, a sign from God... (It's funnier if you say that last sentence in a Dan Aykroyd voice, or if you are a religious zealot, in any voice that offends you most).
We hit it off and started travelling together to meet our host. We ended up having an amazing time together for the next week seeing all the Jordanian sites including the amazingly expensive but still worth it Petra!
The highlight of our trip was watching a giant shooting star explode into a fireball on the horizon in the wadi Araba dessert while we were sleeping out in the open with countless stars blanketing the sky over our heads. We woke up to warm raw camel milk... sweet and healthy!
Interests
I am planning on traveling to India in a converted Daimler-Benz truck within 4 years. Would love to host people that have experience converting campervans.
I have had a love affair with the sea since before I can remember. I still like to go diving. I've spent lots of time at the bottom of the sea "free-diving" style as well and have touched 17m deep so far.
I've been interested in gardening/farming since I was a teenager. I love learning about lifeforms of all kinds with a particular interest in mycology (mushrooms) and worms (Eisenia fetida)

Music, Movies, and Books
I had read The Lord of the Rings like ten times before the movies came out and I approve Peter Jackson's work.
I love Bob Marley and reggae music but I listen to all kinds of music so long as it's good! ;) Jacob Miller, Neil Young, Weezer, The Band, Nirvana, Sam Roberts, Sublime, and Toots and the Maytals are at the top of my head now.....
Movies: 300, The Big Lebowski, Pulp fiction, Shogun Assassin, The Matrix, le fab dest de Amelie Poulain, the Lord of the Rings, The Little Mermaid, Spirited Away and many others, including Princess Mononoke.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So, I was snorkelling in Thailand and dove to a depth of 12 meters to swim with a sea turtle that was surrounded by a bunch of scuba divers... when they saw me buddah posing at that depth they kind of freaked out but gave me enough time with the turtle to make it worth it. I also saw sharks, a stingray and a bunch of pufferfish!
I spent three days in the monastery of Jacob's well in Nablus, West Bank, with an amazing and humble monk who built the place practically with his own hands.
I heard the monks of Simonos Petras chanting vespers at Mount Athos before hiking through the woods all night to find a room to sleep at on the shore of the Agean.
Jerusalem.
Teach, Learn, Share
Ukulele! If you don't know I can teach you, if you do know, you can teach me!
We can practice your English, Greek (come on, you know you want to learn Greek! ;)) and French, talk about the cool places we've been to, hang out, eat out, party out and we can do some photography while we're at it. I want to know more about: Farming and permaculture design; history of different cultures; people and what makes them happy; gardening; herbs of all kinds; beekeeping. I want to learn how to draw. Maybe yoga.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A couch or small bed to sleep on, a shower, a song, other stuff too.
