About Me
I love to experience new places and people and experiences, so I travel whenever I can. I needed money and time to do that, and I love to learn, so I became a teacher! I've been teaching Sociology for about 5 years, roadtripping every summer with my partner (who I met while traveling many years ago). Recently, I completed an intensive yearlong course in Montessori teaching, and will take on my first full-time teaching job with kids this fall!
My philosophies are pretty simple:
-Have fun and leave the world better than you found it.
-Liberty without License ("An it harm none, do what ye will")
-I am a global citizen and part of a global ecosystem.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Surf, sometimes Host, Spread the Word.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
No shortage of couches surfed in the cities that I've lived in, and a few around the world.
I've hosted people a few times and had great experiences meeting interesting people and hearing their stories.

Music, Movies, and Books
Psychological Horror, SciFi/Fantasy movies & shows are way up on my list. (Recently: Dexter, Beloved, Brother Sun Sister Moon)
Any good music with something to say. Minimalist trance-enducing tribal stuff, too. (Manu Chao, Zap Mama, Decemberists, Sage Francis)
SciFi/Fantasy/mystery/adventure books. (Dark Tower series, Stranger in a Strange Land)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A grasshopper taking refuge in my shadow during a sandstorm.
Going back to school two weeks after doctors told my mother I'd be lucky to start physical therapy within a month.
A girlfriend chastising me for killing a mosquito on her arm.
Teach, Learn, Share
Ask me about God or the Universe or the Self, whatever they may mean to you whether you're an Atheist or a Creationist. I know a lot about how different people as individuals and groups have sought personal and grand meaning, from Jewish and Buddhist origins to Vodou to Theoretical Physics. And I'm always looking for good, open minded people to teach and learn from.
Ask me about computers and audio/video recording, editing, performance and distribution. I'll gladly teach you how to select and use any sort of digital camera, microphone, or recording interface, as well as how to do basic editing and develop your own style and method. I recently helped a woman who knew nothing about computers go from raw footage to a personalized DVD, with very little hands on from me, and seeing her leave the proud owner of a completed project that she put together with her own hands felt great. If you just want to talk movies or music you've seen/heard or made, that's definitely cool with me too.
Ask me about practical technology for a better world. I've been studying sustainable design and renewable technologies on the side for several years now, and I'm always excited to collaborate on a project to make our lives a little better and our world a little healthier.
Ask me about people, places, and life. I love a good story, whether I'm hearing it or telling it, and I've been around enough in my limited lifespan thus far to have a few to tell. I try to keep myself in a constant "Beginner's Mind" state in recognition of my limited perception, but I have picked up on a few of the World's apparent principles and patterns, and I love to talk about them and get others' input and POV.
