CURRENT MISSION

All of a sudden I've grown up and settled down. I just logged in here and saw everything I wrote while backpacking way back in 2010. Great fun!

ABOUT ME

Positive, interested in the world, disorganized and active. I like going out to meet people, pushing my own limits, indulging in a minor self-destructive streak or staying in to read a book. Nothing makes me gladder than having accomplished something I know I will remember in the future, and that maybe will delight others.

PHILOSOPHY

This is all there is, so we might as well enjoy ourselves.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been moving around a lot these last few years, so haven't been able to host. This year I will devote to travelling, so hope to both couchsurf and simply meet up with other couchsurfers. I'll get to hosting when I have settled down a bit more :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfing experience was being invited to couchsurf by a fellow traveller who had had many great experiences with it. Initially I felt hugely uncomfortable, something I blame on Scandinavian reticence, but I soon warmed up to it and had a wonderful time. Following that I made a profile, and even though I have yet to participate a lot I do seem to meet a lot of people when abroad who are also members of this little community. I can't wait to experience much more of it in the years to come.

I am not overly enthused by music, although I certainly enjoy it (I just won't be able to come up with a fantastic playlist for your party).
As for movies I enjoy the latest blockbusters and then try to stick to the best of the best.
I devour books, but can be a snob about them.

Having a drink of whiskey in a air pocket inside the wreck of a ship on my first licenced scuba dive.

Watching the sun rise over Hobart from Mt. Wellington.

Walking the last 7 km to the northernmost point of Europe in March - then trying (and failing because of a frozen face) to smile for the camera.

Anytime I'm on a train journey in a foreign land and get to glance out the window from out of a good book at the passing landscape, such a feeling of freedom.
