About Me

ABOUT ME

I´ve got a huge interest for different cultures, languages and traditions. No matter if you´ve come from a country very close from here, or far away from the other part of the globe - it would be as well be interesting to learn more about yours.

CURRENT MISSION

Be fluent in French and German

PHILOSOPHY

I would refer to the Buddhist philosophy. So astoundingly easy, and still centers everything which really is of importance.

Interests

I have the last years been studying Art History alongside with language studies, more precisely English, French and basic Linguistics. Learning different languages is for the moment a great interest of mine.

I do ChiGong and TaiJi- exercises regularly, which has helped my very much to maintain my mental and physical health. The Chinese culture has always fascinating me.

I´m also trying to practice life drawing regularly. There is so much you can use drawing skills to. It directly reflects your mind and personality, and can visualize your ideas.

Music, Movies, and Books

During the early 1990th, I played bass guitar myself in a punk rock band. Unfortunately, I didn't show to have particularly much talent for music, and I haven't used the bass much since then - but I still got the it here! If you're the kind of surfer who just can´t travel without your guitar, I could at least try to comp you.

Which music I listen to? Hm... the best internet music radio station is definitely bellyup4blues.com.
While writing, drawing or practising, I mostly listen to this one; http://psyradio.fm/

About reading....well, what I read is mostly paper versions of political magazines. I´ve learned the french language mostly by subscribing to Le Monde Diplomatique, alongside with subscribing at the Norwegian version of the same title. In that way, I had the translation right beside me every time i read it, and made a bit of progress every day.

The best book I've read is "The Global Trap: Civilization and the Assault on Democracy and Prosperity" (Die Globalisierungsfalle, 1996). It describes the world at the moment when it was written, and then looks ahead into the future. It's so astonishing, how much of what the two authors predicted as an horrendous future, actually seems to come true!

And the best film...it must be Metropolis from 1927. I've made a picture, which is inspired by that movie. I've put it among the last ones of my pictures, here on this Couchsurfing site.

The most inpiring part of Art History must be the short lived German DADA-era. It seem to have ended very abrubtly though, when Hitler came to power.
The Russian Consrutivism as well. It was also forced to end abruptly, by another dictator.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was taught Kung Fu by a monk, just outside the Shaolin monastery in China.
