PHILOSOPHY
I feel like I should mention "open-mindedness" since everyone else does. I think I'm generally open-minded.
"The large print giveth and the small print taketh away" -Tom Waits
You can Google "INTJ" for a pretty good description of how I think. In spite of that though, I think I am generally a nice enough guy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
In the normal way.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've done some surfing in Europe, Asia and California and hosted in California. I've met some great people and had some fun times.
Interests
Besides the obvious answer of "travel"...
In the academic/professional area I'm into math/science/technology type things and clean technology. Right now I'm working on a new kind of electronics cooling device.
A lot of outdoor sports (Climbing, Hiking/camping, Biking, Backcountry Skiing, Snowboarding) are important to me.
I also enjoy sitting around and talking, telling stories, playing games and generally relaxing. Perhaps with live music.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen mostly to the greater Rock genre (Blues - Metal). I'll also go for most anything done well. Names: Tom Waits, The Pixies, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The White Stripes, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Metallica, Megadeth, Cake...Dr. Strangelove; or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The Bomb., The Matrix (original), Monty Python (especially Life of Brian and Holy Grail), I Heart Huckabee's, The Science of Sleep, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Pulp Fiction. I'm not a big reader, really. I like the whole Douglas Adams collection a lot. The Tipping Point was also interesting.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Achieved sentience. Robots have been trying to do that for years with no luck. Seriously... how does that work?
Teach, Learn, Share
I can tell you how most machines work, or at least come up with a convincing guess.I'd also be happy to give travel advice about the places I've been. Particularly, I've lived in Boston/New England, Northern California, and Bavaria, and spent a lot of time in Andalucia in southern Spain.
