About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to see as much of the world as I can during my carefree youth.

ABOUT ME

I was raised in the Bay Area in Northern California by an Indian mother and an American father, both who are chemists. I had diverse experiences growing up- my hobbies included sports (soccer, baseball) playing a musical instrument (the baritone horn) and skiing in the mountains of Lake Tahoe, CA. My parents took me to Europe 3 times and feel very blessed to have had those experiences.

My well-rounded upbringing has shaped me into a open-minded and tolerant individual. I enjoy any opportunity to try new things and I am enthusiastic about meeting new people and sharing experiences and perspectives.

I also have a twin brother- and as a result of growing up always having a friend by my side, I am a very outgoing and social person.

I have recently been accepted to medical school here in the US and will begin in August 2013. I am looking forward to the beginning of my road to becoming a physician, but in the meantime, I am trying to travel and enjoy the final months before school starts up again!

PHILOSOPHY

Work hard, play hard, give back.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had 1 Couchsurfing experience so far and it was extraordinary. I was able to stay with a middle-aged Dutchman in the outskirts of Amsterdam. My admiration and respect for the Dutch people was strengthened by this fellow and I am eager to visit him again. It was so great to hear his opinions and perspectives and I learned a lot from him.

Interests

I am interested in science, medicine, sports (soccer, baseball), hiking, current events and music (especially music).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music... the list goes on and on. If I were on a deserted island, I would want to be able to listen to Pink Floyd, Incubus, Third Eye Blind, Tom Petty, Rebelution and The Black Keys.

The Harry Potter books made my childhood better. My favorite book of all time is Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese, and I recently read Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged which was inspiring.

I am not a huge movie-person, but my favorites would have to be Wedding Crashers, Gladiator, The Dark Knight and V for Vendetta.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My high school concert band played a concert in Carnegie Hall in New York and one piece we played featured a 1 minute horn solo played by yours truly.

Also, my recent trip to India was one amazing trip.
