I am 19 and on my gap year before university. I have been traveling through south America for the past 4 months and plan to continue for another 5. My main goal has been to become fluent in Spanish but I also really enjoy meeting and connecting with other travelers from different countries.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I travel, I try to find opportunities to volunteer, work trade, and couch surf not only to save money but also gain a deeper connection with locals and the culture. I have found that while staying at hostels is great to meet other travelers, its hard to really connect to the local experience. English is often spoken by all which I feel lucky about as an American, but volunteering, working with locals, and couch surfing really allows for more immersion.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is reggae. especially, Bob Marley, Jr. Gong. Collie Buddz, and Steel Pulse. My favorite movie is The Irishman but I also really enjoy 90s comedy. My favorite book is The Alchemist.
