Overview
About Me
Friends would describe me as silly, curious, and empathetic-- I try to be as self-aware and objective as possible. I love meeting new people, laughing hard, and learning from others.
Travel is important to me because it gives me multiple lenses through which to view the world. I find that the people I'm closest with and am drawn the most to are those that share a common sense of wonderment and "wow what a crazy universe we live in".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Starting February 2017, I'm spending 10+ months traveling through South America from North to South-- I hope to arrive in Patagonia by mid-November. Instead of staying at hotels, I'd much rather meet locals and experience local culture during my travels.
Music, Movies, and Books
BOOKS: The Social Animal, Bel Canto, Island, Tuesdays with Morrie, Sometimes a Great Notion. Most books by Seth Godin. Vagabonding.
MUSIC: hip-hop, blues, indie, r&b, funk. lots!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Started an on-campus organization to connect people passionate about hip-hop back in college.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm have been learning Spanish and would love the chance to practice my Spanish with hosts and learn local lingo. I will do my best to speak entirely in Spanish, which means I will likely politely ask you to speak "más despacio" at times.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Conversation and a listening ear. I'm easy to talk to and can almost always find a common ground with others. Always interested in new perspectives and stories.
Here is an old post I wrote about what good listening means to me. https://blineham.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/good-listeners-are-important/
I'm also happy to help cook and chip in for groceries.
