About Me

Hi I'm Blake from Houston, Texas. I have been using couchsurfing since 2010 when I manned up and went on my first Eurotrip. Since my buddy was well experienced with couchsurfing I never made an account until now. I only recently made an account because I am currently 4 months in to another backpacking adventure except this time in SE Asia and maybe eventually back to Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couchsurfing because I feel a bit too old for hostels now. They are always placed in the party scene where alcohol, overpriced non-local food and travel agencies dominate.

I've hosted before while I lived in New York City and it was amazing fun to finally pay the generosity forward to backpackers in my country.

I love couchsurfing because it really allows insight on the country I am visiting. Also the people are always so interesting, friendly and love showing me off to their friends where the network of help and friendship continues.

Interests

Besides traveling I love sports, reading, watching HBO and math oddly. Not that I do math during my free time but I am the person my friends come to for exchange rates. Dork, I know. It will not look like it now but I love working out whether that be actual weights or hiking.

Music, Movies, and Books

The music I listen to ranges from slow sad Jewel to ASAP Rocky. You like it, I love it.

Books: Game of Thrones all day.

Movies: this is a contentious topic so I'd rather not delve into it but Godfather is always great....I know what an easy way out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bought a motorcycle and rode through Vietnam.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you dream it, do it.

The End.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Openness. I am more than willing to accept others culture but this trip is more than accepting it is about being apart of that culture.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Cambodia, France, Germany, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam
