About Me
Hi! My name is Blake and I am a student currently working towards getting my bachelors degree in IT Innovation. Essentially, the program is prepping us to be entrepreneurs, freelancers, or involved in startups.
I enjoy movies, music, listening to podcasts, moderate social activity, cleaning, organizing, cooking, experiencing, learning new things, meeting new people, etc. In the past I would classify myself as an introvert, but as I have matured, I have become more of a social butterfly.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In May 2019 I accidentally found a video on Youtube that featured a Ted Talk. In the video, the speaker told his audiences how he was once a nomad, traveling from place to place with little to no money. He talked about how he managed to achieve such a feat, which was through couchsurfing, hitchhiking, and getting temporary side jobs from the locals. I need to do that, I really want to explore the world while I can.
As this thought swirled around in my head, I got to deep thinking. If something like this can be achieved so easily for $500 a month, why are we wasting our money working long shifts and staying in the city? We are basically working to pay for our apartments and cars, and (most) work just sucks the life out of you ... it is a brutal cyle without much meaning. Life would be so much more enjoyable if you forgot all of that and just lived life! It has been done before, and if other people can do it, why can't I?
I have therefore been looking at AirbnB and couchsurfing, and theoretically, I much prefer couchsurfing. AirbnB sounds like a business contract, you pay money to the host to give you shelter, then they leave you alone. Developing a personal connection with your host and the locals seems to be what couchsurfing is all about. I imagine the deeper connection would make the experience so much more enriching and fulfilling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Barreled down the Tower of Terror at DisneyWorld in Florida!
"We walked into a room the was dimly lit, took our seats, and buckled in. The next minute the entrance door shut off, along with the lights. It was completely dark, I could not see a thing. Next thing I knew a countdown timer appeared on the wall, tic toc. The clocked reached zero, and the elevator instantly dropped 13 stories in 30 seconds. Twice, on two of the floors while the elevator was dropping, there were 2 large windows that appeared for a split second. The windows temporarily let in all of the daylight, blanketing the complete darkness with a silhouette of pure white. Never before have I felt like such a vampire."
This experience lasted for 30 seconds, but it was the longest and one of the most memorable experiences I have had.
