Overview
About Me
Traveling the world on a Thomas J. Watson Fellowship (https://watson.foundation/fellowships/tj) to study mime. I’m from California, where I studied English. I’m an avid reader and really interested in the avant-garde. I run a travel blog called noticingthis.com. Welcome to talk about pretty much anything.
I like people who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to squeeze a lot out of life. I like to make art and spend my time with artists, people who have something to express and who express it.
I love to dance, improvise theatre, read, go out, stay in, see art, cook, etc. As of two months ago I’m trying to be vegan, and I’m collecting recipes as I go.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’ll be traveling around the world August 2019 through August 2020 on a Watson Fellowship to study corporeal mime, and am looking for places to stay while I visit festivals and workshops, view performances, and perform!

Music, Movies, and Books
I used to listen to mostly alternative music like Circa Survive, St. Vincent, Florence & the Machine, and Of Monsters and Men. Recently I’ve gotten more into all kinds of music, and right now I’m just enjoying enjoying music.
I read a lot (usually 70+ books a year) – recent favorites:
- Zero K. - Don DeLillo
- Samuel Beckett
- Speaker for the Dead - Orson Scott Card
- On The Road - Jack Kerouac
- The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath
- Educated - Tara Westover
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- just finished three months of mime school in Paris
- performed a Kabuki show in the Edinburgh Fringe
- have been in DC as a National Endowment for the Humanities intern for all of the government shutdowns during this administration
- wrote a book of poetry
- worked in a hostel in the West Bank
- got five degrees in the arts and humanities at community college
- English / creative writing degree at Pomona College in California
- run a poetry reading YouTube channel
- used to be famous online
Teach, Learn, Share
I’ve taught yoga and public speaking at Yale for a high school program and poetry for undergraduates at Pomona College. I can play percussion, piano, and the littlest bit of ukulele.
I like to exercise regularly, eat healthy, hang out and have good conversations, and spend some time on my own.
