About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to revisit Highway 61. Start in New Orleans and drive up to Memphis and then on to Chicago.

ABOUT ME

First note, I have a studio set up in my house, and, although it's a big space, all the rooms are interconnected without doors. It's an old New Orleans thing. There's only one door, and that's to the bathroom. So, it doubles as my work space, and there will be times when I just can't have someone staying here. Please don't take offense! And don't let that stop you from at least asking. Anyways...

I love traveling the world? Wait, that's why we're all here. I love hearing different people's perspectives, especially the things in their past that have made them who they are today. I'm always up for 3 am dinner (fourthmeals?) and late night romps. Or late night chats on the couch. Or anytime.

I graduated from the University of Texas, and now I'm working as a musician. I play piano and sing and I love acts like Harry Nilsson Nina Simone, Allen Toussaint, Andrew Bird, Wilco, and Rufus Wainwright to name a few. Music is my passion. I hope to make a career out of it, but I have a back up plan. I majored in psychology....the brain is the most fascinating thing on the planet.

PHILOSOPHY

It's golden.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I moved! My old roommate and I, Jeff Heimsath, often had couchsurfers over to our house...mainly through his account, but have been involved with couchsurfers a whole bunch o' times. I hope people will contact me when they're New Orleans! I live in a shotgun house by myself at the corner of Royal and Frenchmen street. Frenchmen is the best street to hear music in New Orleans.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had incredible experiences with people from all over the place. Ask me about it.

Interests

piano, the brain, local cultures, the desert for it's mystery, the mountains for their grandeur, the oceans for their vastness, food (especially Louisiana food...and sushi), New Orleans, jazz, rock, folk, pop, otis redding.

Music, Movies, and Books

how about just my current favorite music: harry nilsson, rufus wainwright, and allen toussaint.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Played the carillon in an old chapel in Toronto, drove highway 1, nearly died on a hike in Utah, somehow got a room at the bottom of the Grand Canyon the day we got there even though the waitlist was a year long, stared at the stars in Big Bend, swam to Mexico from Big Bend, drove across the vast deserts of Texas/New Mexico/Arizona, found a dead 15 foot alligator, realized why people wear gloves when I got caught in a snow storm in Colorado, got lost in Chicago...and San Francisco, drove straight from New Orleans to Ann Arbor...with a nice stop at Waffle House to keep me going, hiked part of the Appalachian trail
