About Me

CURRENT MISSIONS

taking the long way home. raise a freaking awesome kid. welcome you to our fantastic city.

ABOUT ME

I’m probably the most eclectic person you will ever meet. Practitioner of everything but master of none. If there is something I want to do or learn…I do or learn it. Basically, I’ve filled every moment of the last 10 years with somethingorother, because every moment that I’m not doing something, is a moment I don’t have a reason to remember. Even horror stories have given me something to talk about :)

I’m a huge fan of the outdoors (hiking, biking, kayaking, white water rafting, tree climbing, laying in fields, swimming, etc.) Hulu is my guilty pleasure. I dabble in the didgeridoo and djembe. I own bagpipes and a guitar, but have yet to focus enough talent at either…although I want to! I’ve fumbled with Japanese calligraphy and scrimshaw, I’m a blogger and a vlogger. I’m a sharpshooter with a blowgun, and I do henna as a hobby. Writing scripts and short stories is my forte. My possessions mostly consist of collections of weird things. I’m passionate about language and wish to learn as many as I can in the coming years (top on my list is Chinese, Zulu and Tagalog). I carve wood, sculpt clay, do stained glass, and use the lost mold method to make silver jewelry.

I've had gangrene, bot-flies, some stomac parasite I can't pronounce, and a minor case of flesh eating bacteria...I got better.

I suffer from Mental Bulimia (I’m not discounting eating disorders…as a disclaimer)…It’s what I call the process of scanning the internet for random factoids for hours, then systematically purging my brain of all the connections I’ve made by writing them down in a haphazard journal that has become something of a life guide for myself…it’s pretty weird and wild stuff.

My life has been composed of a series of awkward moments. I have an affinity for inventing and bartending. Birkenstoks are my shoe of choice (with wool socks in the winter), but barefoot is the way to be! I love animals; small, large, exotic, three-legged, and normal. My next pet will be a tortoise, chinchilla or wallaby. Reiki is something that comes naturally to me, along with possibly seeing people’s auras (but I just blame the blur on my bad vision). I used to weigh 100 lbs more than I do now. I love learning herbal remedies and ancient symbology. Ghost hunting and researching paranormal activity gets my motor running. I wear Velcro watchbands with tribal symbols on them. I love geneology and growing things. I have a trampoline in my living room and a TV stand that I’ve made out of soda cans and a pizza box. I enjoy microbrews much more than any other alcoholic libation, and have perfected the art of “brewery hopping”. New music brings peace to my ears, and organizing group events keeps me content. I love working with college students and draw energy from their presence. Give me a car with a full tank of gas and a handful of Clif bars and I’ll show you an amazing adventure.

Above all, I love meeting new people, learning and doing new things. I’ll try anything once…and twice if I forgot what it was like the first time

PHILOSOPHY

"Just Do It"

"Never take the same route back...otherwise you might smell your own feet"

"When life starts to settle down...its time to turn on the blender"

"Don't be afraid to go out on a limb, that's where the fruit is"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I’ve surfed a bit here and there, including Alaska, New York City and Virginia, but hope to become way more active as both a surfer and a host. I want to show people the glory that Upstate New York and Western Massachusetts have to offer. They are both places rarely thought of, but inexplicably interesting. I’m also a big fan of organizing CS events in the region with our little Capital Region Couchsurfer Collective that is growing by leaps and bounds…its very exciting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

NOTE: I haven't updated this in years, but I have recently been on a CS Slump...this must change!

I’ve surfed with people, gone to huge CS gatherings, organized and partaken in local CS events, and overall…I’m just getting started :D

Interests

You name it!
I’m a big fan of going out on the town, dancing with my style (I call it the... “Lack of” style), skydiving, outdoorsy things like canoeing, hiking and climbing things, hang-gliding, traveling like CRAZY! Cooking, spelunking, sculpting, doodling, making movies, writing, roadtrips, meditation, learning new things all the time, meeting new people and expanding my mind.

Music, Movies, and Books

All of the above...
almost any movies...yes...even sappy ones. favorites are comedies and documentaries. Music is the same, we love any and all, save for some indecent rap mixes and crappy redone versions of songs...we think all music has certain intrisic values that make it unique and pleasing. Books, well...we're very ecclectic...currently into educational books about things like cryptozoology, evolution, iridology and acupuncture...all of these being just for fun though...not for school.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived everywhere from the arctic to the tropics in a single year.

Ate reindeer sausage with a homeless man in Anchorage

Woke to sunrise on a beach on a Belizean island...no words.
