Overview
About Me
Hi! I’m Blanka from Hungary and currently I study cultural anthropology in Budapest. I love meeting new people and share experiences. I’m here for cultural experience and to try an alternative way of travelling. I love getting to know cultures by spending time with locals so Couchsurfing is the perfect place for me. I will spend three months in New York City to explore the cultural diversity of the city and to experience how locals live there. I have traveled to many places and in many ways but having the “local experience” is my favourite! I believe in the spirit of community and cultural exchange that CS promotes.
I also studied international relations and I’m always happy to exchange ideas about the world and have long conversations. But I’m a curious and flexible person who loves to learn about anything. In my free time, I do yoga, dance, learn languages or hang out with friends. I also love to cook and share my culture through food. But my biggest passion is anthropology! It creates empathy towards cultures and just makes you more and more curious about the world because there’s so much to see and to experience. With a bit of empathy we could deal with so many social and cultural issues in my opinion. Therefore I don’t care what your religion, sexual orientation or skin color is. We are all humans and this is what matters!
I’m a very curious person and I think learning is a lifelong experience. I think the best way of learning is meeting and talking to people and share experiences. I think an open mind is crucial for learning and understanding so I’m trying to follow this philosophy.
Despite being adventurous, I consider myself a tidy and respectful person. I understand the importance of following house rules and being considerate of my host’s schedule and privacy. I am here to get to know locals and I’m always open to do things together and get an insight into your lifestyle.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m passionate about travelling and meeting new people and Couchsurfing is the perfect way to do this because it’s an alternative way of travelling and it gives the “real” experience of a culture. It also gives opportunity for meeting locals which is the most interesting part of travelling in my opinion. I mostly used Couchsurfing in Mexico which was an amazing experience. I often found a host during hitchhiking, that’s why I don’t have many reviews but all the experiences I had were truly incredible. I believe that if you believe in human kindness, you will attract such experiences:)
I’d like to clarify that CS is not a dating app and I’m not here to date people. I encountered issues and misunderstandings with that before. I’m on this app to exchange cultures and meet nice people.

What I Can Share with Hosts
Since I study anthropology I have tons of fun facts about cultures and people. Plus, I am always happy to share my culture. I think Hungary is an interesting place because we’re between Eastern and Western Europe and it’s kind of a mixture of the two. We also have a very unique language and history, and not to mention our cuisine! I can cook you a delicious Hungarian dish.
Other than that, I have a passion to sports, yoga, dancing and nutrition. I’ve been dancing since I was 10 and it’s my favourite free time activity. I also like running and learning about nutrition so I can maybe teach a thing or two about it.
I’m also a nerd about sustainability and I have a specific interest in food waste that I can share with you. In Budapest I volunteer for Food Not Bombs and give away food for those who are in need.
