Chi sono
CURRENT MISSION
Create more than you consume. (I fail at this almost everyday, but feel better for the striving).
ABOUT ME
I am a native-born Arkansan, but am currently working for the Bureau of Land Management in Utah as a surveyor of streams across the American West. The lab I work in at USU is called the Bug Lab because we specialize in the sorting and identification of aquatic macroinvertebrates - which is AWESOME. I really like my job, but am mostly living life and enjoying a few years of travel and experience before beginning an M.S. in Natural Resources/Ecology somewhere.
I am a considerate, tidy guy that likes a good conversation about most anything and enjoys running, backpacking, porch-sitting, and throwing things between people (frisbees, ideas, whatever). I also enjoy low-key walks and dogs over thirty pounds.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am still new to the formal Couchsurfing scene, but am excited to be on the circuit.
Being a guest in a foreign city is much more rewarding than being a visitor. I like how Couchsurfing enables folks to gain authentic experiences of places and facilitates a sharing of resources and ideas within a geographically diverse community. We are all friends here.
My schedule is such that I travel too much to host right now and have limited housing resources anyway, but am looking forward to it before long.

Musica, film e libri
Music: Drive-by Truckers, Elephant Revival, Lucero, Swampbird
Books: Right now I am reading literature of the west - Ed Abbey, Terry Tempest Williams, Luis Alberto Urrea - but generally enjoy good naturalist books and the classics. My all-time favorites are "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek" by Annie Dillard and "Lawrence Booth's Book of Visions" by Maurice Manning.
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
I traveled independently through Europe, Africa, and Asia for one year primarily by boat, train, and bus with a Watson Fellowship exploring traditional beekeeping cultures.
I've also done a few long (15+ day) hikes in amazing country - The Wainwright Coast to Coast across northern England (192 miles), the Nantahala section of the Appalachian Trail (95 miles) and the Ouachita Trail from Oklahoma to central Arkansas (224 miles).
Insegna, impara, condividi
I make a mighty black bean burger and am a good beekeeper. I have also started picking around with guitars and a violin playing reels, jigs, and waltzes.
I love contra dancing - so would be thrilled to take a host/guest with me if the days fall right.
And I am always keen on sharing an evening walk, a morning run, good films, and music!
Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
Genuine interest and enthusiasm for people and places.
And now that I am living in Utah - I might be able to score some 3.2%abv beer.
