About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to sleep more & do more at the same time

ABOUT ME

I'm rather tall, rather calm and rather quiet as well but when conversations starts to be really interesting I sometimes can't stop talking. Maybe it's a little weird to include that in personal description but I have to admit that I am often seen as pessimistc and sad but I'd like to think I'm just realistic, thoughtful and cautious :) I like ironic and sarcastic humour but at the same time I think that we all should respect each other and at least try to be nice. Sometimes I'm in a huge mess but on the other hand sometimes I'm overorganised (especially when I'm planning a trip). Certainly not a regular party animal but not a complete loner as well.

I studied Applied Computer Science as my first faculty and now I'm about to finish master studies in Economics.
Since 2009 I've worked at local radio (www.radiofonia.net) which used to be funded by Krakow's universities. Now it's independent, grassroot initiative struggling to build great radio and vibrant ngo in my hometown. Just as with my studies I was always active in a few areas - I started as a part of the newsroom and musical editors team then I've hosted radio broadcast about economy/economics for about 3 years and recently I was responsible for finance side of the initiative as well.

PHILOSOPHY

I'll be completely honest, questions like that makes me laugh and cry at the same time. I really don't want to bore you with cliches and I don't like defining everything just for sake of it. Well, I guess this alone might be kind of telling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, actually I haven't surfed a lot (Stockholm and Iceland) but still, CS became part of my life through my sister who used to be very active in this community. I co-hosted few people with my sister and my parents some time ago and twice attended CS-meetings in Krakow and Ghent. I was hosting people between in Iceland during my exchange semester between January and June 2014.

Interests

music (with periods of compulsive concert going in the past), economics, technology, scandinavia, iceland, world in general, cosmology and modern physics fascinates me but unfortunately i know how little i know + I really do like quizzes:)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: all time favourites include e.g. My Bloody Valentine, Broadcast, Dungen, Modest Mouse, Clark, Tim Hecker, Pulp, Shellac, Sandwell District, Steve Reich but look at my last.fm account as my taste seems to be changing all the time: http://www.last.fm/user/bla-rakor-dodar/

Books: First of all, on day-to-day basis I read mostly non-fiction books and secondly I'm very bad at listing favourites. Nevertheless, I'll give it a try: "81:1" (fascinating polish reportage about life on Faroe Islands) "Moscoviada", "Szachinszach", "Plot Against America", "Crime And Punishment", "The Spring to Come" (of which I always remember as it is compulsory read in Poland in high school and it seems that everyone hate it except me)

Movies: "Smultronstället", "Waltz with Bashir", "Samotáři" (Loners), "Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country" (forgive me but I was a trekkie as a child and this one is probably the best), "Eroica", "A Seperation", "Tinker Tailor Doctor Spy", "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" + I'm always eagerly waiting for next Bond movie, I love Jon Stewart's Daily Show and for some reason I'm addicted to danish tv-series (Forbrydelsen, Borgen, Bron).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Out of those which everyone else would consider to be at least a little bit amazing I guess total sun eclipse in 1999 is my top-choice. Night spent in Odessa catacombs is also on my top-list.
Moreover, personally I value very highly making big snowball in Þingvellir as a tribute to the Þór ;)
