Overview
About Me
I see my life as one big adventure after another, whether it's by travelling (Sitar lessons in India, hikes through the beautiful jungles of Thailand, a 6-month internship in Sri Lanka as a physiotherapist), or living my life at home. Currently my big adventure is managing my own business as a physiotherapist in a very beautiful medical centre. I specialise in breathing therapy and relaxation therapy. My goal is to become a master in relaxation :)
I moved to a big eco community in april 2016. We are with 70 people, we have our own living space but share other spaces too, like a big living room and kitchen. I share a smaller (but still big!) living room and kitchen with 5 other cool people :) We try to live as ecological as possible, have clay on our walls, and solar panels on our roof. We also have a meditation hall where we can sit whenever we want. We have a small beach nearby and a beautiful view over the Ooij, a nature area of Nijmegen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I will try and make a bed available whenever I can! If the couch is not available you can always contact me with questions or maybe for a tour around the city I'm living in at that moment?
I surfed officially only once in Hungary. It was a really nice experience! But for some reason when I'm travelling I sometimes end up at a house of a local inhabitant, where I couch surf unofficially.
I haven't hosted yet, but I hope that will change in the near future :) I did however show a lot of people around town when I still lived in Utrecht. I always enjoy meeting new people and share life stories.
Interests
I love dancing, I go to a big psytrance festival each year, like Ozora, Boom, or closer to home, Psy Fi. Dancing is my way to be truly one with myself, and the people around me. Psychedelic music is a real passion of mine. Whenever I put on music, I get goosebumps and it instantly makes me feel blissful and happy! I also like hula hooping, running, hiking through nature, meditating. I am part of a Buddhist meditation movement called "Wake Up". Nothing too vague like aura's or energies, we just like to practice living mindfully :)
I love food too, good italian food, good chocolate, fruits. NOT really into spicy food though! How the hell did I get through Asia without starving? I don't know!
To balance all the spiritual stuff out I have a secret love for gaming. I grew up with Nintendo, and even though I don't own one at the moment, I can still beat all the guys at Mario Kart <3

Music, Movies, and Books
Any film or book which contains a nice message I like reading. Paulo Coelho has a talent for these kind of things. I also like fairy tales. I try and buy a book of the local fairy tales whenever I visit another country.
As of music I am a big psychill fan: Shpongle, Solar Fields, Carbon Based Lifeforms, that kind of stuff. I was brought up with music from Genesis, the Beatles, Peter Gabriel and also a lot of celtic music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think my trip to Varanasi, India is something worth sharing. I met an awesome Indian family, they invited me to stay in their house for almost a month. I helped them with their shop (being blonde in India does attract customers!) I served food to the men, celebrated Holi, did vipassana, had sitar lessons and did much much more there. I will never forget it!
I also did a 5,5 month internship in Sri Lanka, as a physiotherapist in an orphanage. A experience I will never forget.
Teach, Learn, Share
Things I believe I can share:
- Kindness
- Enjoying the little things
- Finding a balance between hippieness and modern times
- I can show you around Nijmegen. I only live here for 1,5 years, but I already have some favourite places to visit. I can also give you a tour through my community if you'd like! It's 15 minutes by bike from the city centre.
Things I have yet to learn:
- Growing self-confidence
- How to turn more dreams into action
