ABOUT ME
I am originally from New Orleans, LA, but I'm currently a graduate student in Seattle. I've also spent a significant amount of time living elsewhere. I went to high school in Singapore and college in Portland, OR. I have also studied in Beijing, China. I have studied and worked in Indonesia, in Batam, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Maluku. While I lived in those places, I really tried to take advantage of the wonderful travel possibilities. I really enjoy traveling and experiencing the cultures, noises, tastes, and landscape that surround me. I love music, history, and languages, and wherever I go I try to learn more about those things. I'm pretty adventurous. I don't have particularly high-standards as a traveler and I'm fairly easy-going.
PHILOSOPHY
Wherever I go, I like to dive into the culture and interact with the locals. I always learn a little bit of the language if I have no prior experience with it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am eager to host couchsurfers whenever I am able to do so. I love meeting fellow travelers and couchsurfers: hearing their stories, exchanging experiences, sharing culture. I am also always excited to surf on others' couches.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In the past I have couchsurfed with some friends, but I just recently started my own profile. I've had some pretty great experiences, meeting interesting people and seeing a city/culture/country from their perspectives. Most of my past hosts didn't have much to offer aside from a floor to sleep on (I brought sleeping bags), but their hospitality has been tremendous.
Interests
I have a strong interest in languages, music, and history, which I try to incorporate into all of my travels. I find that even speaking a few simple phrases in the language of the location that you are traveling in takes you very far.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have lived in the United States, Singapore, Indonesia, and China. Moreover, I have visited many other countries and done some amazing things there. I have backpacked across China and Indonesia, and learned both Mandarin Chinese and Indonesian. The traveling in those countries certainly helped me learn those languages.
