About Me

QPOC (settler) who recently returned to my hometown Yellowknife, Chief Drygeese Territory.

We're back for handful of reasons. Mainly for the boreal forest, and the humans that nurture our souls. Not to mention the sunsets and northern lights. There is also the pizza and Ethiopian food, our library, the Raven dance floor, and Great Slave Lake.

Basically ... there is magic in the sub-arctic and it always draws me home.

My instagram account (shared with Ro) will provide a snapshot into our lives ... if you wish. Username: ro_blofj

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm an avid traveler that has somehow never used CS before, but after meeting my partner Rowan and hearing the wonderful opportunities this site can offer, my interest peaked.

Wanting to host and to be hosted.

My hopes and dreams of this life revolve around buying land, growing food, and building a community that prioritizes love and empathy. Yet, I know in order to grow and have my dreams come to fruition that I should expand my horizons and heart; I believe that seeing our world and meeting those who inhabit it is one of the best ways in which I can learn, unlearn, grow and pupate.

So I am here hoping the cosmos can put me in touch with humans that can help shape my life, and me shape theirs (maybe yours).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met my soulmate in an airport in Iqaluit, Nunavut and after only a heartwrenching seven days we decided to completely uproot our lives and prioritize (trying to) love each other. Honestly, I cannot explain or give our story justice as I believe there are no words to describe what happened to us on that fateful day in the Arctic. What I do know is that we were not living in the same city when we met but made significant changes to our lives to be together. We have been each other's sense of euphoria, comfort and safety ever since.

And why do I say that this is the most amazing thing that I have done? Well, simply, it is because my entire life changed after meeting Rowan. And that is not only because Rowan is one of the most compassionate and loving humans I ever met, it is because my life has felt so rewarding and purposeful after I made the active and autonomous choice to listen to my beating heart and be with him.

It feels amazing because the process, being it so unconscious and conscious, has shown me that listening to my heart and soul is so very fulfilling. Since I was young I have always said that prioritizing and searching for love (in all types of relationships) seems like it could the most meaningful way to exist and live, and after meeting Rowan I feel as though the intentions I set out into the universe were answered, and answered with so much joy, empathy and trust.

Like I said, it is hard to explain the last while of of my life but maybe we can get together, share a meal, and I can try and help you feel what I have been feeling; I can try and express why I believe love always helps us to win.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've been told I have quite the ability to facilitate change in this world and in humans. I consider myself to be a hard femme empath who wants the world to be safer, kinder and more loving for all. And I work each and every day (on my self and with my community) to try and make this a reality.

One human I have known for many nears, his name is Michael, shared something wonderful with me the other day: "I think because of the true empathy you have for people and you're ability to instantly connect with everyone you meet eventually you'll be able to make positive changes to the world".

Michael is right about most of those things, I am empathetic and I do connect instantly with those I meet. That being said, I am not everyone's cup of tea as I can often be found discussing the intersectionalities of oppression. Currently trying to unlearn and work through the impacts of racism, patriarchy and capitalism on the lives of us all. So I feel as though I have much to share about these narratives and their intricacies.

That being said, I also have lots to share when it comes to books to read, recipes to try, urban gardening practices, places to see/travel, how to organize a fridge, and get into concerts for free.
