About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore the world, meet new people, eat new foods.
I have had fun (and mixed success), using Yelp or just randomly choosing a place to eat in a local like Chinatown, and then ordering something that sounds exotic. The funniest was when I ordered a dish: "Stir Fried Duck Tongue." The waiter flatly told me, "This is not for you."
ABOUT ME
Energetic, fun, easygoing. I've got two kids, who are AMAZING, but I try and get a lot in on the days that they are not with me. I am a wanderer who's had to stay put more than I'd prefer, so in the words of Louis C.K., am learning to take mini-vacations in the seconds and minutes in between.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It is a great way to check out places, meet locals, and find out about an area in a way that you otherwise would not - like the difference between having a hotel room 1/2 a mile from the beach, or right on the water.
Interests
Food: Thai, Burmese, Vietnamese food (really most anything exotic and flavorful). Red wine - Sexual Chocolate was my favorite ever. A good cold beer. A perfect steak (rare), juicy fresh sun warmed tomatoes, citrus fruit, watermelon, tea in winter.
Hiking, biking (when I'm more fit), skiing. Dancing to techno.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went to Burning Man a few years back with about a weeks notice. I was one of the first in, and one of the last out. The art was beyond incredible. The people where amazing. ... and sleep was incredibly elusive. Each night I promised myself I'd go to bed before sunrise. Each night I failed. Our camp did a "revelee" each morning at 9 - they'd play a song that brought a few hundred people out from the surrounding camps to dance with us, and of course I had get up and dance. After that it was too hot. 7 days, 25+ hours actual sleep. The most incredibly unforgettable week of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I make incredible marinades (if you are a meat eater), and a killer salad.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A bottle of wine and good conversation.
