ABOUT ME

More on instagram @The.Journey.Maker

A Girl turned Globetrotter. I'm originally from Portugal, but also lived in Paris, Belgium, Amsterdam, Thailand and Mozambique. Travelled the world and made loads of couch-surfing friends that became just great friends really. What I really love is long-term travelling, you know, buying a ticket to some place far away and just wait to see what life throws at you, usually it's all good! Wonderfully simple...

PHILOSOPHY

No guts, no glory.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Made amazing friends through couchsurfing throughout the years, both hosting as well as surfing. I recall several experiences, and although the best ones were spontaneous and not through sites, they were all memorable. Perhaps the most memorable one, that happened years ago when I was rescued by an Indian family in Udaipur, India that let me sleep on their floor, when I arrived in the middle of the night without a place to stay, after a 15 hour bus ride that left me quite ill. Ended up staying for a bit longer, met the whole family and all the friends of the family and had the best of times. Returned a year later to that magical city, for a 5 day long wedding ceremony that the family invited me to attend (Thanks Dilip, mamaji and papaji).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: indie/alternative, electronic, jazz, blues, soul, bossa nova

Movies: less commercial, art-house, documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Marooned myself on a tropical island, with little more than a bikini, a tent, and as much water and food i could carry on me. Had fun first and then bored myself silly. The food proceeded to spoil after some days and left me dying of hunger, until I was rescued by the manager of a 5 star hotel from the other side of the island (yes, duh..), who thought I was a mental case.
So, my first impromptu attempt failed miserably on the Robinson Crusoe Adventure Scale. But it was fun.

Lessons learned: spoiled food is not that bad.

So if you have a Robinson Crusoe alter ego, like myself, just say hi. Not many like us out there that would actually try it out.
