ABOUT ME

Hello there! Our names are Michelle, Zhangqi and Hongxiang. We are phd students in engineering. Zhangqi and Hongxiang are currently in the US as visiting scholars from China. They met by chance upon arriving in the US and now share an apartment. Michelle and Zhangqi toil in the same laboratory.

PHILOSOPHY

Hongxiang: We emailed him to ask, will update this when he gets back to us.
Michelle: Keep living, keep learning.
Zhangqi: I love my family and want to make them proud.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We've never done this before, but we are psyched to try it out! We have had a lot of fun learning about one another's culture from each other. We are continuing our cultural sharing by planning a trip to Washington DC, where we hope to engage in many geeky and touristy activities. Couch surfing along the way seems to us like a great way to show Zhangqi and Hongxiang more of typical American life.

Interests

Research. Research. Research.

Um.... sometimes we do other things. Like movies, or dinner out. We went camping in upper michigan for a week. The China Guys (as we have affectionately termed Zhangqi and Hongxiang) spent a day at Cedar Point and loved it. Michelle is afraid of heights and skipped that one. We also like swimming and fishing. Michelle is a big fan of sugar and the China Guys are big fans of salt.

But don't tell our advisors. Really, all we ever do is research.

Hongxiang: I know all kinds of Chinese history facts that I would love to share.
Michelle: I want to learn more about culture.
Zhangqi: I want to learn American culture and share the experience of my life in China.
