About Me

I'm an English teacher from New York City. Being a New Yorker is a big part of my identity even though I haven't lived there since I was 18. I moved to Ohio for university and moved abroad after I graduated. I've taught English in France and South Korea, and now I teach in Budapest. I'm excited to be out exploring Central and Eastern Europe since my grandmother and grandfather are from Vienna and Belarus respectively.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like probably everyone else on here, I'd love to meet new people who like traveling as much as I do.

Interests

I enjoy going to museums and having discussions about the exhibits. I particularly like modern art, because I think it's fun to analyze it and decide if it's great or if it's crap. I have a good time wandering around cities (Budapest is one of my favorites) and finding cute little cafes where I can drink coffee and read a book. I also really enjoy good tea and try to bring some back as a souvenir when I go traveling.

In university, I double-majored in History of Religion and English Literature, so obviously I like discussing and analyzing book.

Music, Movies, and Books

Jane Austen, Neil Gaiman, J. K. Rowling, Junot Diaz and Lev Grossman are some of my favorite authors. The best book I've read recently is The Tiger's Wife.

I'm not particularly educated about music, but I enjoy listening to Death Cab for Cutie, Counting Crows,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited the DMZ and the joint security area between North Korea and South Korea when I was teaching in South Korea. It was a pretty bizarre experience to see the soldiers from each country separated by only a few yards.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm really interested in languages so I'm always happy to have a super nerdy discussion comparing languages we know and teaching each other a bit of them. I can help out with anything English-related.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have good stories I guess, particularly from my time living in South Korea. I'm happy to help with anything English-related, as well.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Myanmar, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
