About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Taking the road less traveled, but I also like things cheesy (i.e. Rt 66)
ABOUT ME
I'm a Hula Girl at Heart! A land-locked Parrot Head who has had some adventures of a lifetime cruising and living aboard - enough to wet my appetite for more. I'm from a very small town in Indiana, with a large family with southern roots. I enjoy small town life, but I'm definitely infected with wander lust. My life is filled with dichotomies - I work in a professional, demanding career, but I have tattoos, piercings and a motorcycle license. I was raised by hippie mother and a Pentecostal grandmother. Enough said :)
PHILOSOPHY
I am passionate about music, travel, and stimulating conversation. I'm a cynical optimist. I believe commitment to service and volunteerism are necessary for personal, professional and spiritual growth. I believe extremism can be obliterated by embracing the Parrothead lifestyle. I view life as an adventurous journey to be enthusiastically traveled and a smorgasboard, to be sampled and savored.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
This is all still very new to me. My best friend had a great experience in Ireland using couch surfing. I've greatly enjoyed my prior B&B travel experiences, because of the opportunity to experience more of the culture and meet new people. I think couch surfing is the next logical (and inexpensive) option!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Nothing formal through here. I've stayed with acquaintances in Paris in 2006. Caribbean "couch-surfing" with acquaintances winter of 2005.
Interests
Sea otters, vintage hats, leopard print, red nail polish, old cars, football, open-wheel racing, live music, playing drums, traveling, tropical beaches, sailing, kayaking, going to a dive bar with my friends, blues, classic rock, soul, jazz, 80's hair bands, reading, art museums, glass art, painting, cooking, scrapbooking, eating ice cream, dancing, theater, comedy clubs, searching for the perfect margarita (mojitos work, too).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The Rock of Cashel in Ireland, and most of the rest of Ireland for that matter. Living/sailing on a sailboat. Helping to create and expand Heart of Sailing. Surviving 3 storms at sea. Kayaking on Halloween in the Salt River on St. Croix, under a full moon with bioluminescence surrounding us and flying fish landing in the kayak. Viewing Gullfoss and Strokur in Iceland. Driving Route 66. Every Indianapolis 500 for the last 18 years.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have lots of trivial knowledge about Indiana, especially my hometown, so for any James Dean fans, I have lots of tidbits. I can also make recommendations about places I've been in Italy, France, Ireland, Iceland and the Caribbean.
