ABOUT ME

My name is Chris Fettin. I am 28 years old, and live in San Francisco, California. I was born and raised in Nebraska. Since I was a boy I have been a pretty sensitive guy and there is nothing more important to me than the people I surround myself with. Once I heard that you are the average of all your friends combined, and I find that to be pretty true.

Some things I enjoy: graphic design, making things, electronic music, practicing yoga, teaching yoga, Burning Man, traveling, white sandy beaches, getting lost, thinking about the Big Picture, contemplating the Universe, inside jokes, chilling out, taking photos, sharing experiences with my friends, dancing on top of large tall objects, DJing, seeing people happy, making brunch, music shows/festivals, wandering, and a bunch of other stuff too.

The bright side is where you'll always find me, and I don't see much point in dwelling on or talking about negative things. I don't like violent movies. I don't watch TV (well, except for Glee), I definitely don't watch the news, and I don't like to talk or think about politics unless I really have to. Passion is something I have a lot of, but I've recently discovered that I prefer to save it for more interesting things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted several surfers in the past, although it can be kind of hard at my current place. I CouchSurfed around South America last year, and met so many amazing people that way. I am always spreading the good word about CS to fellow travelers and all around cool people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

They have all truly been positive experiences in their own unique ways, although I enjoy them most when I can slow down and spend time cooking, talking, and sharing with the people staying with me or hosting me.

My favorite hosting experience so far was when a friend asked if I could entertain two surfers from Canada for a few hours that were supposed to stay with him. We hit it off immediately and a few hours turned into four days. They shared a lot of travel wisdom with me and also taught me the proper way to drink Yerba Maté. Yummm.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love music. Some of my favorite artists of the moment are Florence + The Machine, Robyn, Scissor Sisters, Taylor Swift (What?), Deadmau5, Fake Blood, Lykke Li, Lady Gaga, Passion Pit, The XX. Fun fact: I am also a DJ and love throwing down tech/electro house and pop beats whenever I get the chance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think being evacuated from MachuPicchu by a helecopter and given an arial tour of the ancient would have to take the cake at the moment.
